Anita Loorbach (born 25 December 1964 in Sappemeer) is a Dutch former long track speed skater, who was active between 1981 and 1995. She was a sprinter, good in riding the 500 metres and 1000 metres. [1]

Loorbach won the silver medal at the 1989 Dutch Sprint Championships and obtained the right to compete at the 1989 World Sprint Speed Skating Championships. However, she was seen at the time not as the best rider at that moment, so she was asked to give her place to Marieke Stam. [2] Loorbach didn't accept the request, and made her international debut in Heerenveen finishing 21st overall. She also participated at the Sprint World Championships in 1990 (finishing 16th overall), in 1991 [3] (finishing 13th overall) and in 1992 (finishing 16th overall). [4] She also competed at other international competitions, including at ISU Speed Skating World Cups. [4] She didn't compete at the 1992 Winter Olympics because Loorback didn't ride the qualification time. The request of national sprint coach Wopke de Vegt was not honored by NOC*NSF. [5]

Between 1985 and 1995 she had a total of 28 starts at national championships. At the Dutch Sprint Championships she won two silver medals, in 1989 and 1992. At the Dutch Single Distances Championships she also won two silver medals, in 1990 in the 1000 meters event and in 1995 in the 500 meters event. [4] She became national champion at the 1995 KNSB Dutch Super Sprint Championships.
