Ankur Dhama is an Indian para-athlete and long-distance runner. He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2018.

Early life

Dhama became visually impaired when he was about six years old, after an infection due to Holi colours. [1] Subsequently, he moved to Delhi, where he studied at the JPM Senior Secondary School for the Blind. He went on to study history at the St. Stephen's College. [2] Dhama hails from Khekada. [3]

Career

In the 2014 Asian Para Games, he won one silver and two bronze medals. He was injured during the 2016 Paralympics. In the 2022 Asian Para Games, he won two gold medals. [4]

Ekta Bhyan is a para athlete who represents India in the women's Club and Discus throw events. She represented the country at the 2018 Asian Para Games held at Jakarta, Indonesia and won gold medal in the club throw event. She qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, following her second consecutive appearance in the World Para Athletics Championships. She has also represented India at the World Para Athletics Championships 2023, Paris, and won the Bronze medal at Club Throw. She has also competed and won medals in several IPC Grand Prix held at Berlin in 2016, Dubai in 2017, Tunisia in 2018 and Dubai in 2023. Ekta also won a bronze medal at the Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China in the Club Throw event.

Khatri won the gold medal at the 2019 World Wushu Championships in Shanghai, China in the Women's Sanda 75 kg category.

Neelu Mishra is an Indian Sprinter from Varanasi, India. She has represented India in Master Athletics, meant for athletes over 35 years at various competitions in various track and field events such as the 100 meters, 200 meters, 80 meters hurdle, Long Jump, and High Jump. A child prodigy in sports, Mishra grew up in Basti, Uttar Pradesh and participated in more than 10 national tournaments through the late 1980s and the early 1990s and bagged countless medals. She was the fourth fastest girl in India in 1994, and her state level inter-university record of clocking 100 meters in 12.00 seconds in 1993 remains unbeaten till date.

Rubina Francis is an Indian para pistol shooter. She won the bronze medal at the P2 10 m air pistol SH1 event at the 2024 Paralympics Games. She made history by becoming the first Indian woman to clinch a Paralympics medal in pistol shooting by winning a bronze.

As of December 30, 2023, she is ranked 200th in the senior division women's 62 kg World Kyorugi rankings. Hyder is the first female taekwondo athlete from Kashmir.
