Michael Stock is an English songwriter, record producer, musician, and member of the songwriting and production trio Stock Aitken Waterman. He has been responsible for over a hundred top-40 hits in the UK, including 16 Number One's and is recognised as one of the most successful songwriters of all time by the Guinness World Records. As part of Stock Aitken Waterman in the 1980s and 90s, he holds the UK record of 11 number one records with different acts. In the UK Singles Chart he has written 54 top-ten hits including 7 number ones.
British Hit Singles & Albums was a music reference book originally published in the United Kingdom by the publishing arm of the Guinness breweries, Guinness Superlatives. Later editions were published by HiT Entertainment. It listed all the singles and albums featured in the Top 75 pop charts in the UK. In 2004 the book became an amalgamation of two earlier Guinness publications, originally known as British Hit Singles and British Hit Albums. The publication of this amalgamation ceased in 2006, with Guinness World Records being sold to The Jim Pattison Group, owner of Ripley's Believe It or Not!. At this point, the Official UK Charts Company teamed up with Random House/Ebury Publishing to release a new version of the book under the Virgin Books brand. Entitled The Virgin Book of British Hit Singles, it was first published in November 2008 with a separate albums book and second edition being published over the next couple of years.

"I'm into Something Good" is a song composed by Gerry Goffin (lyrics) and Carole King (music) and made famous by Herman's Hermits. The song was originally recorded by Cookies member Earl-Jean on Colpix Records in 1964. Her version entered the U.S. Cash Box Top 100 charts in the US on 4 July 1964 and spent eight weeks there, reaching a high of number 42 on 15 August 1964, and number 38 Billboard.
"Let's Have Another Party" is a 1954 ragtime medley which became a number one hit in the UK Singles Chart for the pianist Winifred Atwell. It is a composite of several pieces of music, and was a follow-up to Atwell's successful hit "Let's Have a Party" of the previous year.
"Carolina Moon" is a popular song, written by Joe Burke and Benny Davis. Written in 1924, the song was first recorded in 1928 by American crooner Gene Austin whose version charted for 14 weeks, seven of them at #1. The song was copyrighted in 1928, so it entered the public domain on January 1, 2024.
"Deja Vu" is a 1984 song by the Japanese male group the A.B.'s, released on the StreetSounds label. It first charted on 14 April 1984, and it reached number 80 in the British album charts. It remained on the charts for two weeks.
The Band AKA were an American male vocal/instrumental group of session musicians based in Los Angeles, California who were active during the 1980s. The membership of The Band AKA was fluid throughout their existence and essentially they were the creation of their producer and songwriter Jaeson James Jarrett.
Bas Noir was an American female vocal house music group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The duo was composed of Morie Bivens and Mary Ridley. Its only UK chart success was called "My Love is Magic," which was released on the 10 Records label. It entered the UK Singles Chart on February 11, 1989, and reached number 73; it was only in the chart for 1 week. In the United States, the group's best-known single was a top 20 Hot Dance Club hit, "Superficial Love," in 1992.
"In Your Eyes" is a song by American singer George Benson, released as a single in 1983. It entered the UK Singles Chart on 24 September 1983 and reached a peak position of number 7. The song remained on the chart for 10 weeks. It was written by Michael Masser (music) and Dan Hill (lyrics), and was initially recorded by Hill for his 1983 album Love in the Shadows. It was also covered by Jeffrey Osborne in 1986. Hill would re-record the song in 1993 as a duet with Rique Franks, on the album Let Me Show You - Greatest Hits and More.
Blue Rondo à la Turk was an early 1980s British musical ensemble, whose music featured elements of salsa, pop and cool jazz. The group placed two songs on the UK Singles Chart, but is perhaps better known in retrospect for launching the careers of several players who went on to form the sophisticated jazz/Latin/samba/pop group Matt Bianco.
Gary Byrd and the GB Experience was an American male/female vocal/instrumental group.
Tyrone Brunson was an American singer and musician, who played the bass guitar. One of his most successful singles was an electro-funk instrumental titled "The Smurf" (1982), which reached #14 on the Billboard R&B chart in 1983 and led to further dance records about The Smurfs.
