Anna Bentley (born 28 January 1981) is a British foil fencer. [1] She represented Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Bentley was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, but grew up in Bergh Apton, Norfolk. She took up fencing at the age of eleven after coach Andrew Sowerby from the Norfolk Academy of Fencing did a "come and try" session at the Norwich High School for Girls. [2] She attended The British School in the Netherlands, leaving in 1999.
She qualified to the 2012 Summer Olympics through host country option. [3] In the individual event she was defeated 9–10 in the first round by Canada's Monica Peterson. With Sophie Troiano and Natalia Sheppard represented Great Britain in the team event. They defeated Egypt in the first round, but lost to title favourites Italy, composed of the gold, silver, and bronze medallists of the individual event. [4]
Bentley won the gold medal at the individual British National Championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010. She won the silver medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Fencing Championships. She represented Great Britain at 5 consecutive World Championships from 2007 to 2011.
Bentley is the eldest granddaughter Chris Anderson.

Andrea Cassarà is an Italian left-handed foil fencer, two-time individual European champion, 2011 individual world champion, and three-time Olympics medalist.
Richard Kruse is a former British right-handed foil fencer and four-time Olympian. In 2015, he was part of the Great Britain team that shocked Olympic champions Italy to win the first European Games gold in team foil, the first British gold medal in a team fencing event at World or European level for fifty years. He retired in 2021.
Race Alick Reid Imboden is an American left-handed former foil fencer. He is a nine-time team Pan American champion, six-time individual Pan American champion, and 2019 team world champion. A three-time Olympian, Imboden is a two-time team Olympic bronze medalist. He competed in the 2012 London Olympic Games, the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, and the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Natalia Sheppard is a Polish-born British foil fencer, who represented Great Britain at the individual and team events of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Nicole Ross is an American foil fencer. Fencing for the Columbia Lions fencing team, she won the 2010 NCAA individual women's foil title, and was a three time All-American. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she competed in individual women's foil, coming in 25th, while in the team event she and her teammates came in sixth. At the 2018 World Championships, she and Team USA won the gold medal in the women's team foil event.
Małgorzata Wojtkowiak is a Polish foil fencer, team world champion in 2003 and 2007 and individual bronze medallist at the 2008 European Championships. She represented Poland at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.
Alaaeldin Mohamed El-Sayed Abouelkassem is an Egyptian fencer who won a silver medal in the men's foil event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He took up fencing at the age of eight and, in 2008, began fencing internationally, winning medals at the African and World Junior Championships, as well as the Junior World Cup, before progressing to the senior level in 2011 and capturing bronze at the Fleuret de St-Petersbourg. Later that year, he earned gold medals at the 2011 Pan Arab Games in the individual and team foil events before progressing to the 2012 Summer Games, where he won Africa's first-ever Olympic fencing medal.
Artur Kamilevich Akhmatkhuzin is a Russian foil fencer, silver medallist at the 2013 World Fencing Championships.
Marcus Mepstead OLY is a British Olympic foil fencer, who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro. A team bronze medallist at the 2010 and 2013 European Championships, and team gold medallist at the 2015 European Games. In 2016, he won the foil title at the British Fencing Championships. and 2019 Vice-World Champion.

Nick Itkin is an American foil fencer. He is a two-time Olympic bronze medalist, two-time World Championship individual medalist, 2023 Pan American Games team gold medalist, 2024 Pan American Games team gold medalist, and two-time NCAA individual champion.
The Ukrainian Fencing Federation commonly known by the acronym NFFU, established in 1992, is the governing body of Ukrainian fencing. Through 2022, Ukrainian fencers won 230 medals combined in the Olympic Games, World championships, and European championships.
