Freeride is a discipline of mountain biking closely related to downhill biking and dirt jumping focused on tricks, style, and technical trail features. It is now recognized as one of the most popular disciplines within mountain biking.
Ryan Nyquist is an American professional BMX rider with 16 X-Games medals, 39 X-Games competition starts and 60 Dew Tour finals appearances. Nyquist is considered one of the greatest and diversely skilled BMX riders ever. Nyquist has won numerous gold medals in the X Games Dirt Jumping & Bike Park events. Recently Nyquist has had an interest in freeride mountain biking and has been training in mountain biking as well as BMX. He currently rides for Haro Bikes, Vans Shoes, Rockstar Energy Drink, and The Jiffy Market of Los Gatos.
Crankworx is a global tour of mountain bike festivals that take place in New Zealand, Austria, and Canada. The final stop of the Crankworx World Tour is a 10 day festival in Whistler, British Columbia celebrating several gravity-fed disciplines within mountain biking. Each summer the Canadian stop otherwise known as Crankworx Whistler is hosted by Whistler-Blackcomb in Whistler, British Columbia at Whistler Mountain Bike Park.
The BUSC or British Universities Snowsports Council was active between 1990–2014 with the motto 'Run by students, for students', its sole aim was to promote and increase participation and competition in skiing and snowboarding at all levels for students in the United Kingdom, it was a unique students sporting organisation as it was run by students for students. An annual vote would be held in November at BUDS to elect a new committee, who would commence running BUSC and upholding the BUSC constitution from the following April for one year. In 2014 Wasteland Ski took over running over the event, ending the student led era.
Tracy Marie Moseley is a British professional racing cyclist who was born in Worcester, specialising in downhill mountain bike racing. Moseley's brother, Ed, was also a mountain biker, it was after he began riding cross country mountain bike races that a race was held on their farm in 1992; this was Tracy's first competition. Her first foray into downhilling came in 1994. Moseley's first international race was the World Championships in 1995 where she finished 8th. The following year she was funded by the Jason McRoy fund, to ride a French National event at Les Menuires. Moseley continued to race with increasing success, and despite sitting her exams late due to her racing schedule, graduated with a 2:1 degree in Biological Sciences in 2000.
Martyn Ashton is a former British and World Champion mountain bike trials rider, stunt rider and team manager. He had been riding professional trials since 1993, and has been described as a mountain biking legend, and credited with turning trials riding into one of the fast-growing areas of the sport of mountain biking. Ashton was paralysed in an accident in 2013, during a bike trials demo at the British Moto GP.
Jared Graves is an Australian cyclist who has represented Australia in BMX, four-cross (4X), and downhill mountain biking. In 2006, he finished second in the mountain bike 4x world cup series. In 2008 he finished second in the BMX world cup series and was selected to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he finished sixth.
Claire Buchar, also known as Claire Kovarik, is a professional racing cyclist specialising in downhill mountain biking. Buchar races on the UCI World Cup circuit and is a multiple Canadian national champion in her profession and is a multiple World Cup medalist.
Andreu Lacondeguy is a freeride Mountain biker from Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, born 12 January 1989. He is a 2013 Munich X-Games bronze medalist in the Mountain Bike Slopestyle event and a Red Bull Rampage Winner in 2014.
Mark Lee McMorris is a Canadian professional snowboarder who specializes in slopestyle and big air events. While filming for Transworld Snowboarding's "Park Sessions" video in March 2011, Mark became the first person to land a Backside Triple Cork 1440. More recently, on 28 April 2018, Mark landed the world first Double Cork off of a rail, the Front-Board Double Cork 1170 with melancholy grab. Mark has also left his mark at X-Games and other events. In 2012 and 2013, Mark won back-to-back gold medals in Winter X Games in the slopestyle event. He competed in the slopestyle event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, where he won a bronze medal, Canada's first medal in those Games. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, he won a bronze medal in the slopestyle event, only 11 months after a snowboarding accident with near-fatal internal injuries. He has also appeared in many videos for Transworld Snowboarding, Burton, Redbull, CBC, Shredbots.
Jeffrey Bruce Symonds is a Canadian professional triathlete. He took third-place in the 2011 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Symonds' performance made him the first Canadian male and the second man in his twenties to record a podium finish at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Symonds won the 2015 Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship in Melbourne, and the 2013 and 2014 Challenge Penticton triathlons.
Nicholi Rogatkin is an American professional bike rider from Lincoln, Massachusetts, United States. Currently ranked #1 in the World. 2016 World Champion and 2018 Triple Crown Winner. The winningest FMB World Tour athlete with over 25 wins. Rogatkin started riding BMX at the age of five and became a professional at age 13. Rogatkin won the ASA Triples in Miami and BMX Dirt Worlds in 2013. In 2014, he focused more on mountain biking, and rode the FMB World Tour as a rookie. In the 2015 season, he placed second at Crankworx Rotorua and Crankworx Whistler and became the first rider ever to win both the Best Trick Competition and the main event at Vienna Air King in Vienna, Austria. Nicholi pulled the World's First Cashroll on a Downhill bike. In 2016 Rogatkin did a new trick and named it the Twister. The "Twister" is best described as a 1080 front flip, or a front cork 1080. Rogatkin finished 2016 season in First Place in the Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour Diamond Series and First Place in FISE World Series. In 2017 Rogatkin added another rotation to his own Twister (1080) and landed 1440 while competing at District Ride In Nuremberg, Germany.
Sam Reynolds is a Professional freeride Mountain biker. Known for his Best Trick award in 2015 Red Bull Rampage event when he did a superman over a 72'ft Canyon Gap. He also later performed a trick the "rock solid" in the same event.
Tracey Hannah is a Professional Downhill bike rider. She raced her first national BMX title when she was 4 years old. Tracey chose to do MTB when she saw Mick Hannah was racing down a hill very fast on an MTB camp in 1997.
Brandon Semenuk is a Canadian freeride mountain biker from Whistler, British Columbia. Semenuk is a 3-time FMB World Tour Gold Medalist. He is a 2013 Munich X-Games Silver medalist in the Mountain Bike Slopestyle event, a 2008, 2016 and 2019 Red Bull Rampage winner, 2nd person who won rampage three-times. A 5-time Red Bull Joyride winner. He is known to be "always emulated, never imitated." He often does not need to do his second run every time as he nails his first run in competition. He is known as one of the best freeride mountain bikers in history.
Brett Rheeder is a professional freeride mountain bike rider from Mount Albert, Ontario. Rheeder is a 2013 Munich X-Games Slopestyle Gold Medalist. In 2016 he won the Red Bull Joyride for the first and only time in his career.

Born in Parksville, British Columbia, Canadian Darren Berrecloth is famous not only for his success in competitions, but also as one of the pioneers to the sport of freeride. Barrecloth had bravery, determination and dedication to the sport of freeride and helped path the way for freeride. He exploded onto the freeride scene with a third-placed finish at the 2002 Red Bull Rampage, and has been one of the leading riders in the world ever since .
