Anthony Wolfe CM (born 23 December 1983) is a Trinidadian professional footballer who plays as a forward. [2] He played for the Trinidad and Tobago national team on 35 occasions.

As a member of the squad that competed at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, he was awarded the Chaconia Medal (Gold Class), the second highest state decoration of Trinidad and Tobago. [3]

Club career

Wolfe started his career at North East Stars, with whom he clinched the league title in 2004, scoring eight goals for them in the process. [4] He then moved to San Juan Jabloteh at the start of the 2006 season and became that seasons's joint-top goalscorer with 16 goals, [5] which earned him a move to the Atlanta Silverbacks in the USL First Division.[ citation needed ] He only played three games for them, scoring one goal, in his lone season. [6]

Wolfe first came to India in 2014 and joined I-League side Churchill Brothers for a season. [7] [8] He made his debut in the on 11 February 2014 against Rangdajied United at the Tilak Maidan Stadium, in which he scored the only goal. [9] He again played for the Goan-side for a season in 2017. [10] He also played for Sporting Clube de Goa, another I-League club. [11] In 2017, he moved to Tollygunge Agragami on loan transfer from Churchill and appeared in Calcutta Football League matches. [12]

Wolfe has appeared with Indian club Peerless SC in the Calcutta Premier Division and has had two spells with the club. [13] [14] [15] In 2019, Peerless created history after winning the 2019–20 Calcutta Premier Division, defeating their archrivals; three Kolkata giants and he was in the title winning squad. [16] [17]

International career

Wolfe was considered a surprise inclusion in the Trinidad and Tobago national team for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. [18]

He represented Trinidad and Tobago 35 times, making his debut on 29 January 2003, against Finland in a 2–1 defeat. [19]

The TT Premier Football League is the Trinidad and Tobago professional league for association football clubs. It is the country's primary football competition and serves as the top division in the Trinidad and Tobago football league system. Contested by ten clubs, the league is one of the world's few football leagues that does not operate on an automatic system of promotion and relegation. Seasons run from September to May, with teams playing 18 games each totaling 90 games in the season. Most games are played in the evenings of Fridays and Saturdays, with a few games played during weekday evenings. TT Premier Football League clubs also play in other competitions, such as the FA Trophy, League Cup, TOYOTA Classic, Goal Shield, and Pro Bowl against domestic clubs from other divisions; and against clubs from other countries in the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup and the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The 2014 Indian Federation Cup Final was a football match between Churchill Brothers and Sporting Goa played on 25 January 2014 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, Kerala. The match was the culmination of the 2013–14 Indian Federation Cup. This was the 35th edition of the Federation Cup, the national cup tournament of football in India which is administered by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Churchill Brothers won by defeating Sporting Goa 3–1 with goals scored by Balwant Singh, Alesh Sawant, and Abdelhamid Shabana while the Sporting Goa goal came from Victorino Fernandes. This was the first time Churchill Brothers had won the tournament.
