Antonio Carozza, (born 5 July 1985), better known as Antonello Carozza, is an Italian singer, songwriter, composer, art director in the Eurovision Song Contest, record producer, pianist and vocal coach. He was the art director of Michele Perniola and Anita Simoncini, who represented San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, and the President of the Italian Jury for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Early life

Carozza was born in Campobasso, Italy. While studying in Campobasso Conservatory, where in 2006 he graduated in piano cum laude and in 2009 graduated in jazz.

Singer career

He debuted in the fourth edition of the popular Italian talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi . In 2005, in the City of Sanremo, following his victory in the preselection called SanremoLab, he qualified to compete in the Sanremo Music Festival 2006, in the newcomer category, where he received the prize for the Best New Production by an Independent label with the song Capirò Crescerai written and composed of himself.

In 2009 Antonello debuted as music producer with his single "27 Angeli" (27 angels), a charity record in memory of the victims of 2002 earthquake in San Giuliano di Puglia.

In 2009, having been the runner-up in the New Wave Festival in Jurmala, Latvia, ending at 2nd place. The first place went to the Ukraine Jamala, winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 [2]

In 2010, he took part in the Russian National Contest for ESC, ending in 8th place with the song "Senza respiro" His song was selected by OGAE Russia members to represent their country in the OGAE Second Chance contest.

In 2015, he was guest in the New Wave Festival in Sochi. He has paired with the Italian contestant Michele Perniola. [3]

The first Italian singer in The Voice (Russia TV series)

In 2017 he took part in The Voice (Russia, season 6), produced by Channel One, with the team Pelageya.
On 13 October he performed the song Il Mondo for the blind auditions.
On 10 November he won the Battle Round by beating the contestant Iyulina Popova with the song "The Final Countdown".
On 17 November he passed the Knockout with a medley comprising "We Are the Champions", "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Somebody to Love" by Queen. [4]

Record producer, talent scout, art director

In 2012, Antonello pursued a career in artistic and event management, receiving again the second prize in the New Wave festival, this time as producer of Costanzo Del Pinto and Songwriter of Se vuoi. He also founded his own Queens' Academy, International Institute of Modern Music and Performing Arts in Isernia, Italy.

In 2013 Antonello was the record producer and vocal coach of Michele Perniola for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013. [5] He was also the composer of the San Marino's song "O-o-O Sole intorno a me".

In 2014 is the art director, record producer and vocal coach of The Peppermints for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014. [6] He was also the author of the San Marino's song "Breaking My Heart".

In 2015 is the art director of Michele Perniola and Anita Simoncini for San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. [7] He was also the producer of the videoclip of the Sammarinese song Chain Of Lights composed by Ralph Siegel.

In 2015 he also produced Michele Perniola for the New Wave 2015, fourth place in the competition.

In 2016 he was the artistic producer for Walter Ricci who won the New Wave 2016 with 425 points.

San Marino has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 13 times, debuting in the 2008 contest, followed by participation from 2011 onward. The nation did not participate in 2009 or 2010, citing financial difficulties. Having failed to qualify in their first four attempts, the nation qualified for the contest's final for the first time in 2014. Valentina Monetta represented San Marino in 2012, 2013 and 2014, making her the first entrant to participate in three consecutive contests since the 1960s. Miodio is a band that consists of three Italian and two Sammarinese members. They represented San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, performing the song Complice. This was the first time San Marino had entered the competition. They performed in the 5th position after Moldova and before Belgium. They however failed to get past the first semi-final on 20 May, only receiving 5 points and placing last of 19.

The OGAE Second Chance Contest is a visual event which was founded in 1987 and is organised by branches of OGAE, the international fan club of the Eurovision Song Contest. Four nations competed in the first contest which took place in 1987. The competition was previously a non-televised event, but evolved over the years by the usage of video tape and later DVD, YouTube and streaming services.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 was the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Vienna, Austria, following the country's victory at the 2014 contest with the song "Rise Like a Phoenix" by Conchita Wurst. San Marino participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, held in Kyiv, Ukraine. The Sammarinese national broadcaster Radiotelevisione della Repubblica di San Marino (SMRTV) internally selected Sammarinese singer Valentina Monetta and American singer Jimmie Wilson with "Spirit of the Night" to represent the nation in the contest. Monetta had previously represented San Marino as a solo artist on three previous occasions. The 2017 entry in the Eurovision Song Contest was promoted through the creation of a music video and promotional performances in Tel Aviv, Amsterdam and Madrid. Italy participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Occidentali's Karma", written by Francesco Gabbani, Filippo Gabbani, Luca Chiaravalli and Fabio Ilacqua. The song was performed by Francesco Gabbani. Italian broadcaster Radiotelevisione italiana (RAI) announced in October 2016 that the winning performer(s) of the Big Artists section of the Sanremo Music Festival 2017 would earn the right to represent the nation at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. The selected performer would also be given the right to choose their own song to compete with at Eurovision. In February 2017, Francesco Gabbani emerged as the winner of Sanremo with the song "Occidentali's Karma". The artist accepted the invitation to represent Italy at Eurovision and decided that "Occidentali's Karma" would be his contest entry.

San Marino participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, held in Tel Aviv, Israel. The Sammarinese broadcaster San Marino RTV (SMRTV) confirmed that a second season of 1in360 would not take place to select the entry. In January 2019, they announced that Serhat had been internally selected to represent the nation in the contest with the song "Say Na Na Na", co-written by himself and Mary Susan Applegate. Serhat had previously represented San Marino in 2016 but failed to qualify for the final. To promote the entry, a music video for the song was released and Serhat made appearances at Eurovision parties in Amsterdam and Madrid in the lead up to the contest. San Marino performed last (17th) in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, held on 14 May 2019, and placed 8th, receiving 150 points. The entry qualified for the final held four days later, where the nation placed 19th with 77 points. This marked their best placing to this point and their second final qualification.

San Marino planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, which was scheduled to be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Italian singer Senhit was chosen to represent the nation with her song "Freaky!". Sammarinese broadcaster San Marino RTV (SMRTV) internally selected the singer, while her song was selected through a national final entitled Digital Battle. Senhit previously represented San Marino in the 2011 contest, but failed to qualify for the final. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe during 2020, the Eurovision Song Contest was cancelled in mid-March 2020. "Freaky!" was subsequently an entry for several replacement events including Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light, Der kleine Song Contest and Sveriges 12:a. Senhit announced during the former of the three that she would return to represent the nation at the 2021 contest the following year.

San Marino participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The Sammarinese broadcaster San Marino RTV (SMRTV) internally selected Senhit as their representative with the song "Adrenalina" featuring Flo Rida. Senhit was due to compete in the 2020 contest with "Freaky!" before the event's eventual cancellation and had also served as the nation's 2011 entrant. "Adrenalina" was written and composed by Thomas Stengaard, Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, Jimmy Thörnfeldt, Kenny Silverdique, Suzi Pancenkov, Malou Linn Eloise Ruotsalainen and Chanel Tukia, along with Senhit and Flo Rida themselves. While Flo Rida had provided vocals for the track, his participation in the performance of the song on the Eurovision stage was only confirmed on the day of the second semi-final due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions.
