Antti Juhanpoika Jokinen (born 26 April 1968) is a Finnish music video and film director as well as a former college basketball player. He is married to actress Krista Kosonen.
Born in Nurmijärvi to the family of a sports journalist, [1] Jokinen attended East Carolina University on a basketball scholarship and later graduated with a major in broadcast and film. While still in university, he produced a short film called Fist Full of Sand, which was based on Jim Morrison's poetry. The film won an award at the North Carolina Film Festival and attracted the attention of MTV executives in New York City. [2] After he graduated from university, Jokinen worked as an assistant producer on the music shows Awake on the Wild Side, MTV Rocks and Yo! MTV Raps . [1]

After his studies in the US, Jokinen moved back to Finland and formed a production company called Storm Inc., together with Markus Selin, a Finnish film producer. Later on, the two formed Solar Films Ltd. Jokinen moved from directing music videos to television by landing a job to direct one episode of the Finnish TV series Tähtilampun alla. This led him to direct another TV series, Tähtitehdas, which was also produced by his partner, Selin. The two continued working together, producing music videos for Finnish and other European artists, including Sash. Jokinen eventually found an agent in the US and moved back there, becoming a full-time music video director. He worked on videos for artists such as Beyoncé, Will Smith, Tiziano Ferro, Missy Elliott, Anastacia, Celine Dion, Thalía, [3] Kelly Clarkson, Korn, Lordi, Nightwish, Shania Twain, Westlife, and Wyclef Jean. In the spring of 2009, Jokinen began shooting his first full-length film, The Resident , starring Hilary Swank, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Christopher Lee. The film was released in March 2011.
After moving back to Finland, he directed the drama film Puhdistus , which is set in Estonia and based on Sofi Oksanen's book Purge . [5] The film was selected as the Finnish entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards. [6] In 2015, Jokinen directed his third feature film, Wildeye . [7] He followed up with Flowers of Evil in 2016 and Helene in 2020.
Jokinen has a son, Paavo, with model Niina Kurkinen, whom he dated in the early 2000s. [8] He was engaged to Finnish-American chef Sara La Fountain for seven years. [9] After moving back to Finland, Jokinen married Finnish actress Krista Kosonen, [10] with whom he has a daughter.[ citation needed ]

An English-language version was included on Thalia's 2003 English-language album, also titled Thalia. Comet in Moominland is a Dutch-Japanese anime film by Telecable Benelux B.V. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson, originally published in Swedish. It was the first full-length Moomin film, and serves as a prequel to the 1990 anime series Moomin, introducing characters that would later appear in the series. It was released in Japan first theatrically on August 8, 1992 as a triple-feature with two unrelated shorter films, and was later released on home video with 10 minutes of extra footage.

Krista Erika Kosonen is a Finnish actress. She is known for her appearances in movies such as Jade Warrior (2006), Princess (2010), and the Norwegian HBO series Beforeigners. She has also appeared in the sketch comedy television show Putous (2010–2014). Kosonen was selected Best Actress at the Shanghai International Film Festival for her performance in Wildeye (2015). Wildeye, also known as Finland 1944, is a 2015 Finnish romantic war drama film directed by Antti Jokinen. It is an adaptation of Finnish author Katja Kettu's bestselling 2011 novel The Midwife (Kätilö) set before and during Lapland War. The film stars Krista Kosonen and Lauri Tilkanen with Pirkka-Pekka Petelius, Leea Klemola, Seppo Pääkkönen, Elina Knihtilä, Tommi Korpela, and Johannes Brotherus in supporting roles. The film tells the story about a love affair between a Lapp midwife and a SS officer set against the backdrop of the Lapland War, which opposed Finnish and German armies in 1944–45. The film won the Best Film and the Best Actress awards at the 2015 Waterloo International Historical Film Festival and the Best Actress award at the 2015 Shanghai International Film Festival.

Omerta 6/12 is a 2021 Finnish action thriller film directed by Aku Louhimies, based on Ilkka Remes' 2006 novel, 6/12. It tells the story of an attack planned by Serbian terrorists on the presidential palace in Helsinki during the reception for Finland's Independence Day. The film was originally to be directed by Antti J. Jokinen, but having fallen ill, Jokinen was replaced by Louhimies. Omerta stars Jasper Pääkkönen as the main character, with a supporting cast of Nanna Blondell, Sverrir Gudnason, Cathy Belton, Juhan Ulfsak, Dragomir Mrsic, Slaven Spanovic, Märt and Priit Pius, and Mirtel Pohla.

Reunion 3: Singles Cruise is a 2021 Finnish comedy film directed by Renny Harlin. It is the third entry of the Reunion film series, and the only film in the film series that Taneli Mustonen, who directed the previous films, was not involved in making. In the film, friends Tuomas and Niklas take their mutual friend Antti, who suffers from unemployment and loneliness, on a single cruise to improve his self-esteem and mental health, with bad consequences.
