Apollo Ofwono

Apollo Yeri Ofwono (born April 14, 1962) is a Ugandan politician and a member of Ugandan parliament representing Tororo Municipality in Tororo District. He was elected to the parliament on the ticket of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). [1] [2] He is a member of the Natural Recourses and Appointments committee.

Life and education

Ofwono is a Christian of Anglican denomination. He studied for a bachelor’s degree in Commerce at the Makerere University Business School. [3]

Political career

Ofwono first ran for his Tororo District seat in the Ugandan Parliament in 2006 but lose to incumbent MP Sanjay Tanna. Disatified, Ofwono challenged the result of the poll with allegations that his opponent bribed voters and brought in non-registered voters to vote him. [4] [5] He lose the case in court and was ordered to pay 44 million shillings in court cost. [6] [7] He failed to pay the fine until 2009 when he was arrested on the order of the court.

Warren Kizza Besigye Kifefe, known as Colonel. Dr. Kizza Besigye, is a Ugandan physician, politician, and former military officer in the Uganda People's Defence Force. Dorothy Samali Hyuha is a Ugandan diplomat, educator, and politician. She is the High Commissioner (Ambassador) of Uganda to Malaysia. She previously served as Minister Without Portfolio in the Cabinet of Uganda. From 2006 until 2011, Hyuha served as the Butaleja District Woman MP in the Ugandan Parliament. During the same time-frame, she concurrently served as the deputy secretary general of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party.

Kipoi Tonny Nsubuga, also known as Tony Kipoi, was a member of the ninth Parliament of Uganda from 2011 until 2014, representing Bubulo West Constituency in Manafwa District. A member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), he was elected with 72% of the vote. As of April 2018, he is facing a court martial for treason, among other charges.

Aisha Sekindi is a Ugandan educator and legislator. As of February 2022, she serves as Uganda's Minister of State for Water and the woman representative for Kalungu district in Uganda's eleventh parliament. She held the same position in Uganda's tenth parliament. Sarah Nambozo Wekomba is a Ugandan legislator and social worker. As of May 2020, she serves as the elected woman representative for Bulambuli District Uganda's tenth parliament. Politically, she contested as an independent candidate in the 2016 general election, achieving victory over Irene Muloni.

Justine Khainza also referred to as Khainza Justine is a Ugandan politician and social worker. She is the district woman representative of Bududa District in the 9th and 10th Parliament of Uganda. She is a member of the National Resistance Movement political party. In the 2021 presidential and parliamentary elections, she lost the vote to Agnes Nandutu who is the current district woman representative of Bududa District in the 11th Parliament of Uganda.

She served as woman MP for Otuke District in the 9th parliament, and in the 10th parliament, she served as the MP for Tororo North.
