The Architectural and Building Journal of Queensland was a monthly trade magazine about architecture and construction published in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

History

The journal was established in July 1922 and published monthly. [1] In February 1944 it changed its name to Architectural & Building Journal until April 1945, after which it became Architecture, Building, Engineering until June 1954. [2] It then changed its name to Architecture, Building, Structural Engineering until March 1971, [3] when it returned to Architecture, Building, Engineering until its final issue in December 1973. [4]

Florence Mary Taylor Australian architect and engineer

Florence Mary Taylor was the first qualified female architect and the first woman to train as an engineer in Australia. She was also the first woman in Australia to fly in a heavier-than-air craft in 1909 and the first female member of the UK's Institution of Structural Engineers in 1926. However, she is best known for her role as publisher, editor and writer for the influential building industry trade journals established in 1907 with her husband George, which she ran and expanded after his death in 1928 until her retirement in 1961.

H. Kempton Dyson British architect

Herbert William Charles Kempton Dyson, M.I.Struct.E. (1880–1944), known professionally as H. Kempton Dyson, was an English structural engineer, civil engineer, architect, editor and author who specialised in reinforced concrete structures. He was a founder member and the first permanent secretary of the Concrete Institute, which became the Institution of Structural Engineers. He designed the Central Bandstand, Herne Bay in 1924.

Truscon Laboratories was a research and development chemical laboratory of the Trussed Concrete Steel Company ("Truscon") of Detroit, Michigan. It made waterproofing liquid chemical products that went into or on cement and plaster.
