Arfa Software Technology Park (previously known as Software Technology Park) is a skyscraper building and information technology park at Ferozepur Road, Lahore, Pakistan. Built in 2009, it is home to the Information Technology University [1] [2] [3] and PITB. The main building consists of 17 floors and, at 106 meters tall, is currently the tallest building in Lahore. [4] .

On 15 January 2012, Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif announced a name change of Software Technology Park to Arfa Software Technology Park after the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional Arfa Karim, who died at the age of 16. [5] [6]

Arfa Abdul Karim Randhawa (Urdu: ارفع کریم رندھاوا, Punjabi: ارفع کریم رندھاوا; 2 February 1995 – 14 January 2012) was a Pakistani student and computer prodigy who became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in 2004. She was submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records for her achievement. Arfa kept the title until 2008 and went on to represent Pakistan on various international forums, including the TechEd Developers Conference. She received Pakistan's highest literary award, the Presidential Pride of Performance from General Pervez Musharraf in 2005. A science park in Lahore, the Arfa Software Technology Park, is named in her honour. At the age of 10, Arfa was invited by Bill Gates to visit Microsoft's headquarters in the United States. She died in 2012, aged 16, from a cardiac arrest.

The Punjab Mass transit Authority is a public transportation authority of the Punjab province in Pakistan. PMA operates in the province's urban centers namely Lahore, Multan and the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The Punjab Information Technology Board was established in 1999 by the Government of the Punjab as an autonomous body under the Department of Industries, operating under the administration of Information Technology Department from 2001 to 2011. The key focus of the department was to monitor global opportunities, cater to the growing need for IT, develop policy initiatives, planning and implementation of initiatives to increase the competitiveness of the IT industry in the Punjab province. The Information Technology department was dissolved in 2011, and PITB was attached under the Planning & Development Department Punjab.

While STEM fields all over the world are dominated by men, the number of Pakistani women in 'STEM' is low due to one of the highest gender gaps in STEM fields. However, over the time, some Pakistani women have emerged as scientists in fields like Physics, Biology and computer sciences.
