Plaid Cymru is a centre-left to left-wing,Welsh nationalist political party in Wales,committed to Welsh independence from the United Kingdom.
Arfon is a constituency in Wales represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament at Westminster. Although it is relatively large by geographical area,the constituency is a predominantly urban rather than rural seat,with the majority of the population living in the two towns of Bethesda and Caernarfon,as well as in the city of Bangor,on which the constituency is based. "Arfon" is a historical name for the area,meaning "facing Anglesey";it is also the name of the former district council. This seat was created by the Welsh Boundary Commission in time for the 2010 general election;it replaced the old seat of Caernarfon. Bangor was in the old seat of Conwy. The same boundaries were used for the Arfon Welsh Assembly constituency in the 2007 Welsh Assembly election.

Llais Gwynedd is a small regionalist political party based in Gwynedd in North Wales. The party formed following the Plaid Cymru executive's proposal to more than halve the number of primary schools in Gwynedd by closing rural schools. Many of the party's members are former members of Plaid. The campaign was founded as Llais y Bobl,or "People's Voice",but the name was changed because of another party by that name in Blaenau Gwent.
The 2012 police and crime commissioner elections were polls held in most police areas in England and Wales on Thursday 15 November. The direct election of police and crime commissioners (PCCs) was originally scheduled for May 2012 but was postponed in order to secure the passage of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 through the House of Lords. The government considers the elected commissioners to have a stronger mandate than the "unelected and invisible police authorities that they replace". The elections took place alongside by-elections for the House of Commons in Cardiff South and Penarth,Corby and Manchester Central,and a mayoral election in Bristol.
George Winston Roddick,is a Welsh barrister,and the former North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner. At the time he was a member of the Liberal Democrats,but ran as an independent and on election resigned from the Party. Roddick was the first person to hold the post.

The 2017 Welsh local elections were held on 4 May 2017 to elect members of all 22 local authorities in Wales. This included the Isle of Anglesey,which was previously up for election in 2013 due to having its elections delayed for a year. Community council elections also took place on the same day. These local elections were held as part of the 2017 local elections in the United Kingdom. Apart from Anglesey,the last elections were held in 2012. Normally these elections take place every four years,but the 2017 elections were postponed for a year in order to avoid clashing with the 2016 Welsh Assembly election,which itself had been postponed by a year to avoid clashing with the 2015 general election.

Elections of police and crime commissioners in England and Wales were held on 6 May 2021,on the same day as the Senedd election in Wales and the local elections in England. This was the third time police and crime commissioner elections have been held. The elections were originally due to take place in May 2020 but were postponed by 12 months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Turnout was an average of 33.2% across the elections,with Wales having much higher turnout.

On the same day,elections were held to the other 21 local authorities,and community councils in Wales as part of the 2022 Welsh local elections. The previous Wrexham County Borough all-council election took place in May 2017 and future elections will take place every five years,with the next scheduled for 2027.
