Ariane Imbert (born c.1979) is a kite foiler who was the French champion five times and on two occasions she was nearly the World champion. She became the French National Coach.

Life

Imbert was brought up in a sailing family in Nice. Her mother wasw a windsurfer and her father raced and he had a houseboat in the port of Nice. [1] She started to sail on an Optimist dinghy and progressed to a Laser dinghy. Even in Nice she could surf and windsurf.

Imbert became a parent and a kiter and when the relationship ended she and her son moved to Hyeres. In 2008 after taking training in using a kite she opened a school of kiting. Kiting gained more recognition and in 2011 her school was identified as a regional centre for learning the sport (Regional Center of Sporting Excellence Hyérois). She began to compete [1] and she was French champion five times and on two occasions she was nearly the World champion. [2] [1]

When the International Sailing Federation identified Formula Kite in 2018 as a sport for the 2024 Olympics she was in a key position as the French coach. [3]

In about 2017 Lauriane Nolot joined Imbert's training school at Hyères with some experience of kitefoiling. She was 19 years old [4] and studying for a master's degree in digital creation. [5]

As the Olympics approached French athletes did well in international competitions. In the 2024 European Championship France took the top three positions with the Gold going to her student Lauriane Nolot. Nolot, Poema Newland, and Jessie Kampman also did well at the 2024 World Championship, where they took three of the top four places. [6] Imbert was creditted with being a source of the nations leading position in the sport. [7] France has two Olympis competitors, Lauriane Nolot and Axel Mazella  [ fr ], in Formula Kite as the host nation of the 2024 Games and both of them are students of Imbert. [8]

Breiana Whitehead is an Olympic kitesurfer from Australia. She was the first athlete selected for the Australian team for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Eleanor (Ellie) Aldridge is a British sailor from Dorset who competes in women's kite foiling. She won the 2023 Formula Kite European Championships and took the silver that year in the World Championships. She is a member of the British sailing team at the 2024 Paris Olympics and one of the 20 women chosen to compete at Formula Kite.

Lauriane Nolot is a French professional surfer. She has been the world champion at Formula Kite.

Daniela Moroz is an American sailor who became the World champion at Formula Kite six times between 2016 and 2022.

Jessie Kampman is a French Formula Kite surfer. She has won silver medals at the European championships and in 2024 she won a world bronze medal.

Julia Damasiewicz is a Polish formula kitesurfer. She was the European champion in 2020.

Benyapa "Fawn" Jantawan is a real estate agent and an Olympic kite foiler from Thailand. She was the silver medallist at the 19th Asian Games in 2023.

Annelous Lammerts is a Dutch Formula Kite competitor and designated Olympian. She won the 2022 Hempel World Cup Allianz Regatta and the silver medal at the 2023 Formula Kite European Championships.

Leonie Meyer is a German sailor, medical student and prospective Olympic kitesurfer.

Emily Claire Bugeja is a Canadian kitefoiler who was sixth in the Pan American Games in 2023. She was nominated to compete for Canada at the 2024 Olympics.

Alina Kornelli is a German and Austrian Formula Kite competitor. She has been a sailor and a snowboarder.

Elena Lengwiler born Elena Bosshard is a Swiss Ice Hockey player and a nominated kitefoiler for the 24 Olympics. She was fourth in the 2024 European championships and she represents Switzerland in Formula Kite at the 2024 Olympics.

Mafalda Pires de Lima is a Portuguese kitefoiler. She has been sailing since the age of ten and when it was agreed that Formula Kite was to be an Olympic sport then she began to enjoy the difficult sport. She was Portugal's first woman kitesurfing champion.
