Ariston V. Delos Reyes (born February 16,1950) is a retired vice admiral in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Delos Reyes graduated salutatorian from Florentino Torres High School,Tondo,Manila in 1966. Thereafter,he went to study BS Mathematics at the University of the Philippines Diliman as a National Science Development Board (NSDB) scholar. However,after one year,he opted to enter the Philippine Military Academy [1] where he graduated No. 2 out of 108 cadets and received a special award for being number one in Mathematics in 1971. He also attended the Naval Staff Course at the Naval War College,New Port,Rhode Island,USA and General Staff Course at the Naval Command College,South Korea. He also earned a master's degree in National Security Administration,with honors,from the National Defense College of the Philippines. [2]
A day after his retirement from military service,Vice Admiral Delos Reyes was appointed as Presidential Assistant I,with the rank of Undersecretary. [3] He was given the opportunity to continue his career in public service through the Department of National Defense,where he was initially tasked to assist in defense acquisitions to implement the AFP Modernization Program.
During his three-year stint at the DND,VAdm Delos Reyes chaired the investigations of alleged anomalies in bidding of AFP equipment,including the Night Capable Attack Helicopters (NCAH) [4] and mortar acquisition projects. He also pushed for the adoption of comprehensive DND-wide Integrity Development Action Plan (IDAP) in cooperation with the Development Academy of the Philippines and the Office of the Ombudsman,as well as the ISO accreditation of selected DND bureaus and offices.
He earned 57 medals,including among others,seven Distinguished Service Stars,one Philippine Legion of Honor (Degree of Commander),two Philippine Legion of Honor (Degree of Officer),five Outstanding Achievement Medals,Distinguished Navy Cross,two Bronze Cross Medals,19 Military Merit Medals,nine Military Commendation Medals.

He was co-author of “Lessons Learned from AFP Operations Against the Communist Party of the Philippines –New People’s Army”Volume I and “Typhoon Doctrine for Mariners”.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are the military forces of the Philippines. It consists of three main service branches;the Army,the Air Force,and the Navy. The President of the Philippines is the Commander-in-Chief of the AFP and forms military policy with the Department of National Defense,an executive department acting as the principal organ by which military policy is carried out,while the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines serves as the overall commander and the highest-ranking officer in the AFP.
The Philippine Legion of Honor was established by President Manuel Roxas,through Philippine Army Circular No. 60 dated July 3,1947. The Philippine Legion of Honor was patterned after the Legion of Merit of the United States of America,and was meant to honor both civilians and members of the military,Filipino or foreign. Originally,like the U.S. Legion of Merit,the Philippine Legion of Honor had four classes,known as degrees,with Legionnaire being the basic rank,and Chief Commander being the highest. With the reform of the Philippine system of orders and decorations in 2003,the Philippine Legion of Honor's classes were renamed "ranks" instead of "degrees",and the ranks expanded.
The Department of National Defense is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for guarding against external and internal threats to peace and security in the country. The Department of National Defense exercises executive supervision over the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP),the Office of Civil Defense (OCD),the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO),the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP),the Government Arsenal (GA),and Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC). It is also responsible for disaster preparation and management in the country.

Angelo Tomas Reyes also known as General Reyes,was a Filipino retired general and politician who served as the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff from 2000 to 2001 under President Joseph Estrada. At the height of the 2001 EDSA Revolution,Reyes withdrew his support for Estrada,which led to the installation of Vice President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as president,under whom he then served as Cabinet Secretary until 2010. He also served under Arroyo as Secretary of the Departments of the Interior and Local Government,Environment and Natural Resources,Energy,and National Defense.
Cardozo Manalo Luna is a retired three-star general and the 35th Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Cardozo Luna also served as the commander of two unified commands,Eastern Mindanao Command and Central Command. He served as the Philippine Ambassador to The Hague,Netherlands from 2009 until 2010 He is the current Undersecretary of Department of National Defense.
Alexander Badong Yano is a retired Philippine Army general who served as the 38th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,the highest position in the AFP hierarchy. His Vice Chief of Staff was Lt. Gen. Cardozo M. Luna and his Deputy Chief of Staff was Lt. Gen. Rodrigo F. Maclang. Alexander Yano also served as the commander of the Philippine Army and Southern Luzon Command. He is also the first general born from Mindanao

Fortunato Ubongen Abat was a Filipino major general who served as the 20th Secretary of the Department of National Defense (DND),Ambassador to the People's Republic of China,and Commanding General of the Philippine Army.
Ricardo A. David,Jr is a former Chief of staff of the Philippine Armed Forces. He was the Armed Forces Northern Luzon Command chief. On June 30,2010,President Benigno Aquino III picked David as his AFP chief. On July 2,2010,Ricardo David assumes the command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines from Lt Gen. Nestor Z Ochoa. He currently serves as the Undersecretary for Defense Policy of the Department of National Defense.

He was Presidential Assistant and Chairman of the Joint Defense Assessment Planning and Implementation Group (JDA-PAIG),Office of the President;Undersecretary for Philippine Defense Reform Program,Department of National Defense (DND);Undersecretary for Civil,Veterans and Reserve Affairs,DND;and Administrator,Philippine Veterans Affairs Office,He held the rank of Undersecretary of the Department of National Defense for nineteen (19) years up to June 30,2022. .
Emmanuel Trinidad Bautista is a Filipino general who served as the 44th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as he succeeded Gen. Jessie Dellosa as AFP Chief. He served as the Executive Director of the Cabinet Cluster on Security,Justice,and Peace at the Office of the President,Malacañang. His appointment as Undersecretary at the Office of the President was from 1 September 2014 to 22 June 2020 shortly after retirement from the military service as Chief of Staff,Armed Forces of the Philippines. Concurrently,he headed the National Task Force on the Whole of Nation Initiative and was also the executive Director of the National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea. He was succeeded by Gregorio Pio Catapang as AFP chief.
Natalio Cabili Ecarma III is a Filipino General who recently served as Undersecretary of the Department of National Defense of the Republic of the Philippines. He is known for being the first Filipino appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon,to serve as Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force in the Golan Heights,giving him the distinction of being the first Filipino to head a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission,with the rank of UN Assistant Secretary General.
Gregorio Pio Punzalan Catapang Jr.,CCLH is a Career Executive Service Eligible Officer,Corrections Officer,and retired Filipino general who served as the 45th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He was the Vice Chief of Staff prior to his appointment as head of the armed forces. He was also the former head of the AFP Northern Luzon Command and 7th Infantry Division. He is part of the Philippine Military Academy Dimalupig Class of 1981. He was part of the Reform the Armed Forces Movement. On October 21,2022,upon the suspension and dismissal of BUCOR Director General Usec. Gerald Bantag,Catapang was appointed by President Bongbong Marcos as the Officer in Charge,and eventually as the Full-Time Undersecretary/Director General of the Bureau of Corrections.
Delfin Negrillo Lorenzana,OLH,KGOR is a retired Philippine Army general who served as Chairman of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority from 2022 until September 2024. He previously served as Secretary of National Defense in the Cabinet of President Rodrigo Duterte from 2016 to 2022. He served in the Philippine Army from 1973 to 2004.
Cirilito Elola Sobejana is a retired Philippine Army general who served as the 55th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines under President Rodrigo Duterte. He is also known for having been awarded the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medal of Valor in 1995 for his valiant actions in Basilan against the extremist guerrilla group Abu Sayyaf.
Lieutenant General Ferdinand Mendez Cartujano is a retired Filipino Air Force General who served as the 82nd Superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy since 16 November 2020. Prior to his position,he served as the commander of the Air Force Education,Training and Doctrine Command,the Chief of Academy Staff,Philippine Military Academy,the 505th Search and Rescue Group,and the 5051st Search and Rescue Squadron. Cartujano retired from military service on 26 June 2022 after 34 years in military service.
