Arthur James Williams III is a former Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's sixth House district, [1] including constituents in Beaufort and Pitt counties. Williams is a retiree from Washington,North Carolina.
Willams served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. In 1960,he was an Airman Third Class stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base,Texas. [2]

Charles Albert Horner is a retired United States Air Force four-star general. He was born in Davenport,Iowa and attended the University of Iowa,as part of the Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps program. On June 13,1958,Horner was commissioned into the Air Force Reserve. During the Vietnam War,he flew in combat as a Wild Weasel pilot and received the Silver Star. During Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm,he commanded the American aerial forces,as well as those of the American allies. During the Desert Shield phase of the conflict,Horner briefly served as Commander-in-Chief —Forward of United States Central Command;while General Norman Schwarzkopf,Jr. was still in the United States. He currently serves on the board of directors for the United States Institute of Peace.

The Overmountain Men were American frontiersmen from west of the Appalachian Mountains who took part in the American Revolutionary War. While they were present at multiple engagements in the war's southern campaign,they are best known for their role in the American victory at the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780. The term "overmountain" arose because their settlements were west of,or "over",the Appalachians,which was the primary geographical boundary dividing the 13 American colonies from the western frontier. The Overmountain Men hailed from parts of Virginia,North Carolina,and what is now Tennessee and Kentucky.
The North Carolina Line refers to North Carolina units within the Continental Army. The term "North Carolina Line" referred to the quota of infantry regiments assigned to North Carolina at various times by the Continental Congress. These,together with similar contingents from the other twelve states,formed the Continental Line. The concept was particularly important in relation to the promotion of commissioned officers. Officers of the Continental Army below the rank of brigadier general were ordinarily ineligible for promotion except in the line of their own state.
