Arthur McBain is a British screen actor and children's author. He played Alex Myer in ITV's The Trouble with Maggie Cole [1] and Snowy Fleet, in the ABC television series Friday On My Mind . [2] His debut children's book In The Dead Of The Night was published by Little Hare books in 2019. [3]

Acting career

McBain began his career in the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre of Scotland's production of Dunsinane by David Greig. [4] In 2017, McBain played Gordon 'Snowy' Fleet in ABC's television series Friday On My Mind , which tells the story of Australian rock band The Easybeats, [5] before joining the cast of Rupert Goold's film Judy . [6]

In 2019, McBain was cast as Alex Myer in ITV's The Trouble with Maggie Cole . [1]

In 2023, McBain played Jean Gabriel Marchand in Ridley Scott's film Napoleon . [7]

In October 2024, it was announced that McBain would be joining David Dawson and Ralph Little in a film adaptation of Antonis Samarakis' 1965 novel The Flaw [8] .

Books

Arthur McBain's first children's book, In The Dead Of The Night, Illustrated by Tom Knight, was released in 2019. [9] [3] His second book, Night of the Living Pasta, was released in 2023 and was illustrated by Chrissie Krebbs. [10]

The Buzz on Maggie is an American animated television series created by Dave Polsky for Disney Channel. The series centers on an ambitious and expressive tween fly named Maggie Pesky and her family and friends. The show is set in Stickyfeet, a city for insects located in a junkyard. While conceptualizing the series, Polsky wanted it to contain a playful view of adolescence and director Dave Wasson formed the overall look of the characters, being heavily influenced by early Walt Disney cartoon shorts. The Buzz on Maggie was Disney's first series to be fully animated in Adobe Flash, a process done by Bardel Entertainment and Future Thought Productions. The series was produced in widescreen, but was broadcast in 4:3 aspect ratio due to Disney Channel's lack of an HD feed at the time.

In 2001, it was voted "Best Australian Song" of all time by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) as determined by a panel of 100 music industry personalities. In 2007, "Friday on My Mind" was added to the National Film and Sound Archive's Sounds of Australia registry.
