Artiom Pipa (born 19 July 1992) is a Moldovan male weightlifter, competing in the 77 kg category and representing Moldova at international competitions. He competed at world championships, including at the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships. [1] He also competed as a junior for Moldova at world championships, winning the bronze medal at the 2010 U-20 edition, and also 3 bronze medals at the 2009 world championships in Chiangmai (Thailand). In 2008 he became junior European Champion in Durres (Albania). [2]
In 2015 the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has suspended Pipa for anti-doping rule violation, after he returned a positive sample for anabolic agents. [3]

Nicolae "Nicu" Vlad is a retired heavyweight weightlifter from Romania. He competed for Romania at the 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympics and won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal. He won the world title in 1984, 1986 and 1990 and European title in 1985 and 1986 and set world records in the snatch in 1986 and 1993. Between 1991 and 1996, he lived in Australia and competed for it internationally. In 2006, he was elected member of the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame. He is still especially noteworthy for achieving the heaviest-ever snatch of double-bodyweight—lifting 200.5 kg in the 100 kg class.

NOCs achieve qualification places according to their position in the joint team classification by points adding those scored in the 2014 and 2015 World Championships. One continental qualification event is held for each continent in 2016. Only NOCs which have not gained quota places in the Main Qualification Events may obtain quota places.
