Aryaman Birla (born 9 July 1997), is an Indian businessman and former cricketer. [1] In 2023, he was appointed as one of the directors of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, Hindalco Industries and Grasim Industries. [2] [3] He is a founder of Aditya Birla Ventures and Aditya Birla New Age hospitality. [4] [5]

Early life and education

He was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Kumar Mangalam Birla, an Indian Industrialist and Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, and Neerja Birla. He has two sisters, Ananya Birla and Advaitesha Birla. [6]

He completed his schooling in Mumbai. He pursued a degree in commerce through distance learning from the University of Mumbai. He later earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. [7] [8] [9]

Career

He made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy on 25 November 2017. [10] In January 2018, he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction. [11] In November 2018, he scored his maiden century in first-class cricket. [12] In 2019, he took a sabbatical from cricket. [13] He was released by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2020 IPL auction. [14]

Business Career

He began his business career with Aditya Birla Ventures. He currently leads Aditya Birla Ventures, the venture capital arm of the Aditya Birla Group. [15] He holds director positions in Grasim Industries, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd., Aditya Birla Management Corporation (P) Ltd., and Hindalco. Additionally, he is a member of the Atlas SkillTech University Advisory Board. [16] [17]

In 2022 he established Aditya Birla Ventures, as part of the Aditya Birla Group. [15] It is a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage companies from pre-Series A to Series B. [18] Its investments include Dukaan, Giva, FinBox, Eka Care, Mooofarm, Digantara, Pixxel, Mokobara, UptimeAI, and Stable Money. [19] [20]

He established Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality, a company involved in operating and managing food and beverage ventures. Under his direction, ABNAH acquired KA Hospitality, which includes the restaurant brands Hakkasan, Yauatcha, Nara Thai, and CinCin. [21] The company also operates Jolie's, a private members club, and has opened restaurants such as Ode and Supa Sen, in collaboration with chef Rahul Akerkar, and Waarsa, which serves Awadhi cuisine.
