Kim Carnes is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in Los Angeles and grew up there. She began her career as a songwriter in the 1960s, writing for other artists while performing in local clubs and working as a session background singer with the famed Water Sisters. After she signed her first publishing deal with Jimmy Bowen, she released her debut album Rest on Me in 1971. Carnes' self-titled second album primarily contained self-penned songs, including her first charting single "You're a Part of Me", which reached No. 35 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in 1975. In the following year, Carnes released Sailin', which featured "Love Comes from Unexpected Places". The song won the American Song Festival and the award for Best Composition at the Tokyo Song Festival in 1976.

Russell Taff is an American gospel singer and songwriter who grew up in Farmersville, California. He has sung a variety of musical styles throughout his career including: pop rock, traditional Southern gospel, contemporary country music, and rhythm and blues. He first gained recognition as lead vocalist for the Imperials (1976–81). One of his best-known performances is the song "Praise the Lord". He has also been a member of the Gaither Vocal Band, and occasionally tours with Bill Gaither in the Gaither Homecoming concerts. As a solo artist and songwriter, Taff is known for the 1980s anthem "We Will Stand". Taff has received various Dove and Grammy awards either as a solo artist or part of a larger musical group, most notably the Imperials.

We Will Stand/Yesterday and Today is a compilation album by Christian singer-songwriter Russ Taff. This was his final album on the Myrrh label released in 1994. It is a collection of Taff's favorite songs from his solo years on the Myrrh label as well as a couple of songs from his time with the Imperials. It also contains one previously unreleased track, "Your Love Stays With Me", originally recorded by Christian singer-songwriter Gary Chapman on his 1987 album Everyday Man.

Christian singer/songwriter Tim Miner, who co-wrote and produced the track "Tender Heart" from her 1989 album Love Is You to Me handles the production duties on this album. Boyce duets with her husband Gary Koreiba on the song "True Love" and also dedicates the album to him. Songwriting contributions provided by Miner, Cindy Cruse and Amy Grant. The album's first CHR/Pop single and music video "Good Enough" incorporates the traditional Gospel song "Old-Time Religion." This I Know peaked at number 15 on the Top Christian Albums chart.

The album's first single released to both Christian AC and Christian CHR/Pop was "When Love Calls Your Name", which was originally recorded by American actress and singer Cher on her 1991 album Love Hurts. The title song is a cover of the British pop duo Climie Fisher from their 1989 album Coming In for the Kill. Brian Tankersley and musician Bryan Lenox produced five tracks each. The album debuted and peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.
By Faith is the sixth studio album by American Christian singer-songwriter Kim Boyce. It is her second and final album on the Warner Alliance label released in 1994. The album is more adult contemporary, leaving behind her dance pop sound of her previous albums. A music video was made for the second single "Not Too Far From Here."Boyce dedicated the album to her first born son Gary Lee. Boyce released her first all Spanish-language album of By Faith called Por Fe a year later. Bill Cuomo and Robert White Johnson produced three tracks while Bryan Lenox produced the rest of the album.
