Asa is the sixth studio album by the German Viking metal band Falkenbach. It was released in 2013 on Prophecy Productions.
Yvonne Duchateau of Sonic Seducer , Markus Endres of Metal.de and Filip Van Muylem of Peek-a-Boo Magazine commented that the album combines stylistic elements from Falkenbach's entire career. [1] [2] [3] Duchateau wrote that what is new is the presence of more quiet songs with clear vocals, such as "Eweroun" and "Bluot fuër bluot", which gives a more immediate impression; [1] Endres wrote that "[i]n this tension between Nordic folklore with acoustic guitars and clear vocals, Pagan / Black Metal with sawing riffs, melodic keyboards and harsh voice, Asa comes alive". [2] Van Muylem called the combination of different expressions a "successful amalgamation of tradition without any clichés and fiery passion". [3]

The legend centers around series of events that supposedly occurred in Schinveldse Bossen, a forest area northeast of the Dutch region of South Limburg and of the town of Schinveld, near the German border.

The CD was recorded at New Sound Studio in Pfäffikon, a municipality in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland, with producer Tommy Vetterli. Gwyllion was a symphonic power metal band from Kortrijk, Belgium, that was active from 2003 to 2009. Founded by singer Annelore Vantomme and drummer Wouter Debonnet, the band released two studio albums before it split up.
UnSun was a Polish gothic metal band formed in 2006 by ex-guitarist Maurycy "Mauser" Stefanowicz of death metal band Vader. Their debut album, entitled The End of Life, was released in September 2008 by Century Media Records. Their second album Clinic for Dolls was released in 2010 via Mystic Production. Despite plans to enter the studio in 2015 to record the follow up to Clinic for Dolls, vocalist Anna "Aya" Stefanowicz's health conditions got worse and prevented her from recording vocal lines. Having seen no improvement, Unsun was forced to disband in February 2016.

Bassist Wolfgang Rothbauer left Edenbridge in 2016, so Lanvall performed the bass in the recording of this album. Drummer Max Pointner had also quit in 2016, being replaced by new drummer Johannes Jungreithmeier.
Cesair is a Dutch band formed in 2008 who make pagan folk, world fusion and world music. They are the main representatives of the pagan folk music scene in the Netherlands, alongside pagan folk band Omnia. The band refer to their genre as "Epic Folk & Mythic Music".
