The Vidarbha cricket team is an Indian domestic cricket team plays in the India's domestic first-class cricket competition Ranji Trophy and limited-overs Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In December 2017, they reached the final of the Ranji Trophy for the first time in their history, after they beat Karnataka by 5 runs in the semi-finals of the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy tournament. In the final, they beat Delhi by 9 wickets to win their first Ranji Trophy. In the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, Vidarbha successfully defended the crown by defeating Saurashtra by 78 runs in the final played at Nagpur.
Umeshkumar Tilak Yadav is an Indian cricketer who represented the Indian cricket team. He currently plays for Vidarbha in domestic cricket and Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. He played 57 test matches for India and his fast-bowling contributed of India winning test matches particularly at home. Yadav was a member of the team that won the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. He was the highest wicket-taker for India in the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Imran Ali was an Indian cricketer who played regularly for Vidarbha during the 1960s and 1970s. A talented junior player, he toured Ceylon with an India Schools representative side in April 1964, and made his first-class debut for Vidarbha during the 1964–65 season. Playing as a middle-order batsman, Imran established himself as a regular player in Vidarbha's Ranji Trophy team throughout the next decade, and during the 1968–69 season even played two matches for Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy, although without much success. He retired at the end of the 1976–77 season after thirteen seasons for Vidarbha, having captained the side in his final two seasons.

He was the leading wicket-taker for Vidarbha in the group-stage of the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, with 38 dismissals in eight matches. In the final of the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, Sarwate took eleven wickets in the match, and was named the Player of the Match.
Pradeep Sunderam is a former Indian first-class cricketer who currently works as a cricket coach. During his playing career, Sunderam represented Rajasthan cricket team between 1982/83 and 1990/91. Sunderam is one of the two bowlers to have taken all ten wickets in an innings of a Ranji Trophy match, having achieved the feat in the 1985/86 season when he took 10/78 in an innings.

The 2017–18 Ranji Trophy was the 84th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament that took place in India between October 2017 and January 2018. Vidarbha won the tournament, beating Delhi by 9 wickets in the final, to win their first Ranji Trophy title. Vidarbha made their Ranji Trophy debut in the 1957–58 season, making it the third-longest wait before a team won their maiden title. Vidarbha's captain, Faiz Fazal, said that "winning the Ranji Trophy has been the biggest achievement in my career".

He made his first-class cricket debut for the Delhi cricket team in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy in February 2022, scoring two centuries on debut as an opening batsman. He has played for the India national under-19 cricket team, including in India's winning side at the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup and 2021 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup captaining the side in both tournaments.
