The Vidarbha cricket team is an Indian domestic cricket team plays in the India's domestic first-class cricket competition Ranji Trophy and limited-overs Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. It represents the Vidarbha region of eastern Maharashtra. In December 2017, they reached the final of the Ranji Trophy for the first time in their history, after they beat Karnataka by 5 runs in the semi-finals of the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy tournament. [1] [2] In the final, they beat Delhi by 9 wickets to win their first Ranji Trophy. [3] In the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, Vidarbha successfully defended the crown by defeating Saurashtra by 78 runs in the final played at Nagpur.
Vidarbha first played first-class cricket in the 1957–58 season, [4] competing against the other Central Zone teams until 2001-02, after which the Ranji Trophy was no longer contested on a zonal basis. Before the 2017-18 season, Vidarbha's best seasons were 1970-71 and 1995–96, when it reached the quarter-finals of the Ranji Trophy and 2002–03 and 2011–12, when it reached the semi-finals of the Plate Group. Up to the start of the 2017-18 season, Vidarbha had played 259 first-class matches, with 41 wins, 89 losses and 129 draws. [5]
Vidarbha's main home ground was always the Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground in Nagpur until 2009, when it was superseded by the newly developed Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium at Jamtha in Nagpur. [6]
Vidarbha's record score is 237 by Ganesh Satish against Andhra in 2019-20. [7] The best bowling figures in an innings are 8 for 39 by Arun Ogiral against Madhya Pradesh in 1967-68, [8] and the best bowling figures in a match are 13 for 162 by Akshay Wakhare against Gujarat in 2014-15. [9]

Hemang Kamal Badani is a former Indian international cricketer. He is a left-handed batter and an occasional slow left-arm bowler. He had represented the Indian cricket team while also representing Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Haryana and Vidarbha in domestic cricket. He was part of the Indian squad that finished as runners-up at the 2000 ICC Champions Trophy. He is Present Head coach of Delhi Capitals team in Indian Premier League
The Tamil Nadu cricket team is a domestic cricket team run by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association representing the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It has been one of the most dominant teams in white-ball domestic cricket in India. The team plays in Ranji Trophy, the highest tier of the domestic first-class cricket tournament in India and in List A tournaments Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They have won the Ranji Trophy twice and have finished runners-up nine times. They are the team that has won the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy most often. They were the first team to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2006/07. The team was known as Madras until the 1970–71 season before the Madras state was renamed Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu is the only team to win the five different Indian domestic trophies.
Sairaj Bahutule is a former Indian cricketer. He is an allrounder who specializes in leg spin bowling. He played domestic cricket for Mumbai and later on with satara.
Wasim Jaffer is an Indian retired professional cricketer. He was a right-handed opening batsman and an occasional right arm off-break bowler. He is currently the highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy cricket, surpassing Amol Muzumdar. In November 2018, he became the first batsman to score 11,000 runs in the competition. In January 2019, he became the most capped player in Ranji Trophy history with appearance of his 146th match surpassing Madhya Pradesh's Devendra Bundela (145). He was appointed as batting coach for Bangladesh cricket team. In March 2020, he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
Chandrakant Sitaram Pandit, nicknamed "Chandu", is a former Indian cricketer who played in five Test matches and 36 One Day Internationals from 1986 to 1992. He was a wicket-keeper batsman. He made his Test debut against England at Headingley, Leeds on 19 June 1986, in the same match England wicket-keeper, Bruce French made his Test debut. Eventually India won the series 2–0.
The West Zone cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents western India in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. It is a composite team of players from five first-class Indian teams from western India competing in the Ranji Trophy: Baroda, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Mumbai and Saurashtra. West Zone has the best track record of all the zones in the Duleep Trophy, as they have won the Trophy 19 times. This included four consecutive titles from 1961–1962 through to the 1964–65 season, although the third of these were shared with South Zone. Playing against South Zone at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in the 2009-10 Duleep Trophy final, West Zone set a new first-class record for the highest fourth innings total to win a match, scoring 541/7.

Subramaniam Badrinath is a former Indian international cricketer. He is a right-handed middle order batter and an occasional right-arm off break bowler. He had represented the Indian cricket team and was named in the 30 man provisional squad for the 2007 Cricket World Cup but did not make it to the final squad. He has played for Tamil Nadu, Vidarbha, Hyderabad and South zone in domestic cricket. He has also played for Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has also represented the Indian Board President's XI on several occasions.
Pankaj Singh is an Indian former cricketer. In December 2018, he became the first seam bowler to take 400 wickets in the Ranji Trophy. He retired from all forms of cricket in July 2021.

It is the second largest cricket stadium in India in terms of field area after the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, and the qualities of the stadium have been praised by the International Cricket Council.
Rajneesh Gurbani is an Indian cricketer who plays for Vidarbha. He made his List A debut on 10 December 2015 in the 2015–16 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He made his Twenty20 debut on 3 January 2016 in the 2015–16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He made his first-class debut for Vidarbha in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy on 27 October 2016.
The 2017–18 Ranji Trophy was the 84th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament that took place in India between October 2017 and January 2018. Vidarbha won the tournament, beating Delhi by 9 wickets in the final, to win their first Ranji Trophy title. Vidarbha made their Ranji Trophy debut in the 1957–58 season, making it the third-longest wait before a team won their maiden title. Vidarbha's captain, Faiz Fazal, said that "winning the Ranji Trophy has been the biggest achievement in my career".
The 2018–19 Ranji Trophy was the 85th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament that took place in India between November 2018 and February 2019. Vidarbha were the defending champions. The final took place between Vidarbha and Saurashtra, starting on 3 February 2019. Vidarbha defeated Saurashtra by 78 runs in the final, to become the sixth team in the tournament's history to retain their title.

It was contested by 37 teams, divided into four groups, with nine teams in Group A. The group stage ran from 1 November 2018 to 10 January 2019. Prasanth Chandran, is an Indian cricketer, who has played 42 first-class matches between 2000 and 2008 for Kerala. Chandran completed training at MRF Pace Foundation and claimed 79 wickets for Kerala. Test players Vinod Kambli, Wasim Jaffer, Sairaj Bahutule and Ramesh Powar were his victims as he claimed seven for 71 against Mumbai, his career best, in the 2003 Ranji Trophy at the Wankhede Stadium. After retiring as a player, Chandran became a cricket coach at MRF Pace Foundation.
