North Zone cricket team

The North Zone cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents northern India in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. It is a composite team of players from seven first-class Indian teams from northern India competing in the Ranji Trophy: Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Services. North Zone has the strongest track record of all the zones in the Duleep Trophy, as they have won the Trophy 17 times, with the next best team, West Zone having won 16 times. They hold the record for the most consecutive titles, five, from 1990/91 through to 1994/95.

The Ranji Trophy is the premier domestic first-class cricket championship played in India and organized annually by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The teams representing regional and state cricket associations participate. BCCI founded the championship in year 1934, since then it is organised across various grounds and stadiums in India.

The Duleep Trophy, also known as IDFC First Bank Duleep trophy due to sponsorship reasons, is a domestic first-class cricket competition played in India. Named after Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji of Nawanagar, the competition was originally contested by teams representing geographical zones of India. From 2016–17 to 2019–20, it was contested by teams chosen by BCCI selectors but, after been cancelled for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was relaunched in 2023 with six zonal teams. South Zone won the 2022–23 tournament and are the current champions.

Piyush Chawla is an Indian cricketer who has played for the India national cricket team. He has also played for the India under-19 team and the Central Zone. He is seen as a leg-spinning all-rounder in domestic cricket. He spent his childhood in Moradabad, and learnt early essentials of cricket at Sonakpur Stadium under the guidance of his first coach Mr Badhruddeen, who has also coached Indian National cricketer Mohammad Shami, and young talents like Shiva Singh and Aryan Juyal. Piyush Chawla completed his schooling at Wilsonia College. He was a member of the Indian team that won both the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

The Punjab cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents the Indian state of Punjab. They have qualified for only one Ranji Trophy semi-final in the last five seasons and made it to the final in the 2004–05 tournament, where they lost to Railways in the first innings. They also play in other domestic cricket tournaments in India. They have only been winners of the Ranji Trophy once, in the 1992–93 season.

The Delhi cricket team is a first-class cricket team based in Delhi, run by the Delhi & District Cricket Association, that plays in India's first class competition, the Ranji Trophy, limited-overs Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They have won the Ranji Trophy seven times and have been runners-up eight. Their latest title in 2007-08 came after a long wait of 16 years. The East Zone cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents eastern India in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. It is a composite team of six first-class Indian teams from eastern India competing in the Ranji Trophy: Assam, Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Tripura.

The West Zone cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents western India in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. It is a composite team of players from five first-class Indian teams from western India competing in the Ranji Trophy: Baroda, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Mumbai and Saurashtra. West Zone has the best track record of all the zones in the Duleep Trophy, as they have won the Trophy 17 times, similar to North Zone. This included four consecutive titles from 1961 to 1962 through to the 1964–65 season, although the third of these were shared with South Zone. South Zone has the third strongest track record of all the zones in the Duleep Trophy, as they have won the Trophy 11 times, with the best team, North Zone having won 17 times.

The Central Zone cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents central India in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. It is a composite team of players from seven first-class Indian teams from central India competing in the Ranji Trophy: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Railways, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Vidarbha. Central Zone has the fourth strongest track record of all the zones in the Duleep Trophy, as they have won the Trophy 5 times, with the best team, North Zone having won 17 times.

The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team is a cricket team based in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, run by JKCA. It is in the Elite Group C of the Ranji Trophy. Amarjit Kaypee is an Indian former cricketer. He was primarily a right-handed batsman, and he held the record for the most runs scored in the Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic first-class cricket competition for a number of years before Amol Muzumdar took the record in 2009. However, despite his success, he was never selected for the Indian national team, an unfortunate feat he shares with the man who broke his record.

Rajinder Singh Hans is a former Indian first-class cricketer and coach. He was a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and played for Uttar Pradesh between 1976–77 and 1986–87, taking 340 first-class wickets.

The All-India Inter-University Cricket Championship held for the Rohinton Baria Gold Trophy is India's premier inter-university cricket tournament. It has been contested annually since the 1935/36 season.

Diwesh Pathania is an Indian cricketer who plays for Services. He made his List A debut on 27 February 2014, for Services in the 2013–14 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He made his first class debut on 1 October 2015 in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy. He made his Twenty20 debut for Services in the 2016–17 Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament on 29 January 2017.
