The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) is a T10 tennis ball cricket league held in India. Founded in 2024, the league aims to help uncover emerging cricketing talent, with matches played using tennis balls.
The ISPL was inspired by a cricket talent hunt which took place in 2021 in the Dharavi slums, with the idea being to help poorer athletes have a chance to play professional cricket. [1] Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been named as the core committee member of the tournament alongside BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar and Amol Kale. Former India national cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri has been appointed as the chief mentor of the tournament. [2] [3] [4]
The first season was held in March 2024 at Dadoji Kondadev Stadium, Maharashtra. [5] It had an overall viewership of 11 million, and atendance of 500,000. [6]
The ISPL has announced plans to start a 6-team Middle East edition in the future. [7]
The second season is to be held in January and February 2025. [8]
The player auction for the 2024 season was held on 25 February 2024. [9] In which, 96 players were selected from a pool of 350 players. Each team had a total salary cap of ₹1 crore (US$120,000). A total of ₹4.91 crore (US$570,000) was spent on the players selected. [10] [11] [12]
The inaugural ISPL season offered the champions with ₹1 crore (US$120,000), and the runners-up with ₹50 lakh (US$58,000).[ citation needed ]

A bid of ₹1,165 crore (US$130 million) was made for the six teams, [20] with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar having the highest bid of ₹251 crore (US$29 million) for the Srinagar based team. [21]

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is an Indian former international cricketer who captained the Indian national team. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field, at the centre of which is a 22-yard pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Two players from the batting team, the striker and nonstriker, stand in front of either wicket holding bats, while one player from the fielding team, the bowler, bowls the ball toward the striker's wicket from the opposite end of the pitch. The striker's goal is to hit the bowled ball with the bat and then switch places with the nonstriker, with the batting team scoring one run for each of these exchanges. Runs are also scored when the ball reaches the boundary of the field or when the ball is bowled illegally.

Nicholas Pooran is a Trinidadian cricketer who currently represents the West Indies cricket team in limited overs formats and occasionally serves as the team's captain. He also competes domestically for Trinidad and Tobago and plays for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pooran made his international debut for the West Indies in September 2016. In May 2022, he was appointed captain of the West Indies limited-overs team. However, he stepped down from the captaincy in November 2022. Pooran has played 29 matches in the T10 format, scoring 953 runs in 28 innings. His highest score in T10 cricket is 101, and he has recorded 1 century and 7 half-centuries in the format.
T10 cricket is a short form of cricket. Two teams play a single innings, which is restricted to a maximum of ten overs per side, with the game lasting approximately 90 minutes. The format is inspired by Twenty20 cricket.
