Cuttack, is the former capital, deputy capital and the 2nd largest city of the Indian state of Odisha. It is also the headquarters of the Cuttack district. The name of the city is an anglicised form of the Odia and Sanskrit name Kataka, which literally means the fort, a reference to the ancient Barabati Fort around which the city initially developed. Cuttack is known as the Millennium City as well as the Silver City due to its history of 1000 years and famous silver filigree works respectively. Shiv Sunder Das is an Indian cricket coach and former cricketer. He is currently part of the senior men's national cricket team Selection Committee. He is the third player from Odisha to represent India. He is a right-handed opening batsman. In first-class cricket he played for Odisha. Das was selected in 2000 for the first intake of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He proceeded to make his Test debut later that year.
DebasishSarbeswar Mohanty is a former Indian cricketer who played in two Test matches and 45 One Day Internationals between 1997 and 2001. He was a right-arm medium-fast bowler who coupled pace to his naturally lanky frame. He found success in the limited-overs format, averaging under 30 and taking over one wicket per game. On 24 December 2020, Mohanty was appointed as the national selector of the India national cricket team.

Govinda Bhaktiranjan Poddar is an Indian cricketer. Poddar is a right-handed batsman who also bowls right-arm off break. It happened against Baroda in November 2010. And List A debut against Tripura in 2009. Since then he has been a regular in the Odisha Ranji Trophy side. He is very prolific and consistent batsman throughout and across all format for Odisha. This man from Rourkela (Sundergarh) was handed over the captaincy for the shorter formats at the start of 2016 and then took over captaincy for the 2016-17 Ranji season. Odisha had a dream run as they made it to the quarter-finals of the tourney after 15 years. He represented India Red after scoring tons of run in Vijay Hazare trophy 2016–17. He also represented India Board President XI against Australia.
East Coast Railway Stadium is a cricket stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It hosts Ranji Trophy, and other matches.
The 1962–63 Ranji Trophy was the 29th season of the Ranji Trophy. Bombay won the title defeating Rajasthan in the final. The tournament was severely impacted by the Chinese Aggression of 1962. Services and Railways pulled out of the tournament after playing one game each. Being so close to the action Assam and Odisha had to pull out of the tournament. When the ceasefire was ordered, the invaders were only a few kilometres away from Tezpur, which was the headquarters of Assam cricket. Bihar played one match and then closed their season as most of their players were employed in firms and factories which were pressed into defence production.

Rajesh Mohanty is an Indian cricketer. He made his List A debut for Odisha in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 20 September 2018. He made his first-class debut for Odisha in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 1 November 2018. In the third round of the tournament, in the match against Assam, he took his maiden ten-wicket match haul in first-class cricket. He made his Twenty20 debut for Odisha in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 21 February 2019.
