The Northern Punjab cricket team was an Indian domestic cricket team representing the northern part of the Indian state of Punjab during the time of the British Raj and later the northern part of its Indian successor, following the partition of India.
The team first played first-class cricket in 1926 against a touring MCC team. It next played first-class cricket in 1960, when the team made its Ranji Trophy debut against Jammu and Kashmir. The team continued to appear in the Ranji Trophy until the 1967/68 season, when it played its final first-class match against Southern Punjab. [1] In 1968–69 Southern Punjab and Northern Punjab combined to form an undivided Punjab team.

Vikram Raj Vir Singh, commonly known as VRV Singh, is a former Indian cricketer who was a member of the Indian cricket team. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler. After being called into the Indian squad to play Sri Lanka in 2005, he failed a fitness test and was promptly dropped. He finally played his first One Day International against England at Jamshedpur. He debuted in Tests against the West Indies in June 2006. In March 2019, he announced his retirement from cricket. In August 2019, BCCI formed a separate cricket association for Chandigarh and named it Union Territory Cricket Association. VRV Singh was named as the coach of the team.
The Rajasthan cricket team is a cricket team which represents the Indian state of Rajasthan. The team won the Ranji Trophy in the 2010–11 and 2011-12 seasons, having finished runners-up eight times between 1960–61 and 1973-74. It is currently in the Ranji Trophy Elite group. It is run by the Rajasthan Cricket Association and is popularly known as "Team Rajasthan".
Amarjit Kaypee is an Indian former cricketer. He was primarily a right-handed batsman, and he held the record for the most runs scored in the Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic first-class cricket competition for a number of years before Amol Muzumdar took the record in 2009. The North West Frontier Province cricket team was an Indian domestic cricket team representing the British Indian province of North-West Frontier Province. The team played in the Ranji Trophy from 1937–38 Indian cricket season until 1945–46 season in British India, before the partition of India.
The 1934–35 Ranji Trophy was the inaugural season of the Ranji Trophy. It was contested between 15 teams in four zones in a knockout format. Bombay defeated Northern India in the final. The opening match, between Madras and Mysore, reached a result on the first day. The tournament was named as The Cricket Championship of India, onwards 1935-36 is renamed as Ranji trophy.

The 1962–63 Ranji Trophy was the 29th season of the Ranji Trophy. Bombay won the title defeating Rajasthan in the final. The tournament was severely impacted by the Chinese Aggression of 1962. Services and Railways pulled out of the tournament after playing one game each. Being so close to the action Assam and Odisha had to pull out of the tournament. When the ceasefire was ordered, the invaders were only a few kilometres away from Tezpur, which was the headquarters of Assam cricket. Bihar played one match and then closed their season as most of their players were employed in firms and factories which were pressed into defence production.

The Eastern Punjab cricket team was an Indian domestic cricket team representing the eastern part of the Indian state of Punjab. It played 22 first-class matches, all in the Ranji Trophy, between 1950 and 1960, winning 2, losing 13 and drawing 7. It played its home matches in Amritsar and Jalandhar.
Malhotra Chamanlal, also known as Chaman Lal Malhotra or just Chamanlal was an Indian cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1952 to 1970. In a minor match in Patiala in 1956-57 he made 502 not out.

He became the youngest Indian and one of the youngest players in the world to score a century in first-class cricket, with his 137 against Jammu and Kashmir in 1988 coming at the age of 14 years and 294 days. He was the youngest player to reach the 1000-run mark in Ranji Trophy, reaching the milestone at the age of 17 years and 341 days.

He later worked in administrative roles with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA).
Devraj Puri was an Indian cricketer and commentator. He played first-class cricket for several teams including Bengal and Delhi. He played one unofficial Test match for India against the Australians in 1935-36. After his playing career, he became a cricket commentator. In contemporary reports, his name often appears as Dev Raj Puri or D. R. Puri.
