Basant Mohanty (born 4 July 1984) is an Indian cricketer who plays as a medium-pace bowler for Odisha in domestic cricket. [1] He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and has represented East Zone in Duleep TrophyIndia. He was in the winning team Western Samurai Rourkela in 1st edition of Odisha Premiere League and was in Subarnarekha team in the second season. [2]
He was the leading wicket-taker for Odisha in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy,with 44 dismissals in eight matches. [3]
The Duleep Trophy,also known as IDFC First Bank Duleep trophy due to sponsorship reasons,is a domestic first-class cricket competition played in India. Named after Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji of Nawanagar,the competition was originally contested by teams representing geographical zones of India. From 2016–17 to 2019–20,it was contested by teams chosen by BCCI selectors but,after been cancelled for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic,it was relaunched in 2023 with six zonal teams. South Zone won the 2022–23 tournament and are the current champions.
