Career
In 2009, Aspektz was awarded a MuchFACT video award to support the production of his first music video In the TDot, produced by Nadeem Sharpshooter Soumah. [3] The video aired nationally across MuchMusic and MuchVibe. The single was released through True Thorobredz and on his first commercial release Academic Probation: Detention. [4] [5] In the TDot was also featured in the popular TV Show Private Eyes (TV series), the touch-screen videogame DJMax Technika 3, followed by placements in the mobile version DJMax Technika Q as a built-in feature record, which was downloaded over 500,000 times in 2013 and finally in the PSP version DJMax Portable in 2014. In 2010, Aspektz independently financed Fresh that also featured in dance simulation game spin-off Pump It Up Infinity, the first and only single from his second record release Academic Probation: Commencement.
In October 2010, Aspektz collaborated with HBO and Miller High Life to release a conceptual album entitled 7th Inning Stretch with vocal samples from Kenny Powers of Eastbound & Down fame. The record used the musical samples from the first season to chronicle the storyline from Kenny Powers perspective. [6]
Aspektz graduated from the Schulich School of Business in 2011, ranked as the top business school in Canada and #5 globally. [7] He appeared on the Business News Network in May 2011 as a current student on The Pitch to discuss his latest project and the 360-degree, immersive, interactive video technology he was shooting his videos with. [8] He also appeared in XXL for an interview to discuss his contribution to the music industry via 360-degree video technology. [9] The first single to utilize this technology was entitled Swivel and reached #4 on two US college charts. [10] [11] During the summer of 2011, he toured with Keys N Krates on the ((Red Bull)) Spectrum Electronic Festival. [12] His 2012 single Gametime was featured on the CTV Olympic Media Consortium's nationally televised broadcast during the London 2012 Games as a featured track. [13]
Future Music Forum (2017)
On September 14, 2017, Aspektz was invited to be a keynote speaker at the Future Music Forum conference, held in Barcelona, Spain. His keynote focused on consumer journeys, disruptive technology and how pairing the two helped to anticipate disruption in any industry, category and service. [14]
Victor James Santiago Jr., better known by his stage names N.O.R.E. and Noreaga, is an American rapper. Santiago first rose to prominence as one half of the East Coast hip hop duo Capone-N-Noreaga, which he formed in 1995 with fellow Queens-based rapper Capone. The duo released five studio albums, briefly disbanding after their second to pursue solo careers.
"Deep, Deep Trouble" is a rap song from the 1990 Simpsons album The Simpsons Sing the Blues, performed by the fictional character Bart Simpson about his trouble-making antics. It was written by Matt Groening and DJ Jazzy Jeff and recorded in September 1990.
DJMax is an action-rhythm video game series created by Neowiz MUCA. Games feature mostly experimental music and visual art from Korean DJs, artists and composers. Known South Korean experimental group Clazziquai Project has also made songs for the series. There are also a few Japanese composers who have given significant contributions to the series.
Urban Legend is the third studio album by American rapper T.I., released on November 30, 2004, through Grand Hustle Records and Atlantic Records. The album debuted at number seven on the US Billboard 200, selling 193,000 copies in its first week of release. It also debuted at number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Top Rap Albums charts.
"D.A.N.C.E." is the second single by French electronic music duo Justice and the first from their album †. It includes edited and extended versions of "D.A.N.C.E", a rougher mix in the style of their earlier releases, "B.E.A.T", and the track "Phantom" which was previously issued in limited quantities twice on 12" vinyl preceding the release of "D.A.N.C.E.".
Melissa Lauren Young, known professionally as Kid Sister, is an American rapper and singer based in Chicago. She is known for her single "Pro Nails", which features Kanye West, and for her covert work as a member of the British music collective Sault.
"Need U Bad" is a song performed by American recording artist Jazmine Sullivan from her debut album, Fearless (2008). The song features rapper Missy Elliott, as well as rapper Pepa of rap duo Salt-N-Pepa speaking a Jamaican chant. "Need U Bad" is Sullivan's debut single and the lead single from Fearless. It was first released on May 13, 2008 in the United States by J and Arista Records. The song was co-written by Sullivan in collaboration with Elliott, Cainon Lamb, and Taurian Osbourne. It was produced by Elliott and Lamb. The song uses a sample from Nicholas Taylor Stanton's "Higher Meditation Riddim Version", and Tapper Zukie's "Papa Big Shirt".
"Te Regalo Amores" (English: I'll Give You Love) is a song by Puerto Rican reggaeton duo R.K.M & Ken-Y from their second studio album The Royalty: La Realeza (2008). It was written by Jose Nieves and Kenny Vazquez, produced by Los Magnificos, Mambo Kings, and Janet Santiago and released as the second single from the album on August 26, 2008. A remix version with Ivy Queen was recorded and also included on the album. The song is a mixture of Cumbia and Merengue to create a lighter Latin pop sound.
"Ego" is a song recorded by American singer and songwriter Beyoncé for the deluxe edition of her third studio album, I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008). The song was composed by Elvis Williams, Harold Lilly, and Beyoncé. "Ego" was officially remixed with additional vocals from hip hop artist, Kanye West. Initially planned to be released in January 2009 as the second urban single in the US along with the fourth US and third international single "Halo", the release of "Ego" was canceled and replaced by "Diva". "Ego" was later issued as the third urban single, and fifth overall single in the US on May 19, 2009, alongside the sixth US and fourth international single "Sweet Dreams".
DJ Max Fever is a music game for the PlayStation Portable developed by Pentavision and PM Studios. It was released in 2009. Although the franchise has made several appearances in Asia, DJ Max Fever is the first DJMax released in the United States and Europe. The game is a compilation of DJMax Portable (2006) and DJMax Portable 2 (2007) along with additional features. By decision of PM Studios, it is the only title in the DJMax series with a space between words "DJ" and "Max". A digital version of the game was released in 2010 on PlayStation Network, but later removed due to licensing expiration.
DJMax Technika 2 is a music arcade game published and developed by Pentavision in South Korea, and is a sequel to the earlier DJMax Technika arcade game.
"Not Afraid" is a song by American rapper Eminem from his seventh studio album Recovery (2010). It was released as the album's lead single on April 27, 2010, by Interscope Records. "Not Afraid" was first revealed as a single by Eminem via Twitter, after which the song debuted on radio. To promote the single's release, a freestyle rap, "Despicable", was released on the Internet and received attention for its tone and lyrical content. "Not Afraid" was written and produced by Eminem, Boi-1da, Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett; keyboardist Luis Resto was also attributed with songwriting credit. According to Eminem's manager Paul Rosenberg and music critics, "Not Afraid" carries a positive message and depicts Eminem's change in direction from drugs and violence. The hip hop song features a choir that assists Eminem in a heavily layered chorus and vocals are sung over a guitar, synthesizer and piano; no Auto-Tune was used on the sung vocals, but many reverberation tools were.
"Devil in a New Dress" is a song by American hip hop recording artist and rapper Kanye West from his fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010). Originally released through West's GOOD Friday initiative, a weekly free music giveaway started by the rapper to promote My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, it later appeared on the album with an added guitar solo by producer Mike Dean and an additional guest verse featuring rapper Rick Ross. "Devil in a New Dress" was produced by Bink, and is the only song on the album not to be produced by West. The song samples Smokey Robinson's slow jam recording "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?", and is themed lyrically to lust and heartache. Both the topics of love and religion serve as the main inspiration to the song.
"Loving You No More" is a song by American rapper and producer Diddy and his group Dirty Money, from their debut album, Last Train to Paris. It was written by Dawn Richard of the group, as well as Mario Winans and Canadian rapper Drake, the latter of whom featured on the song. Sean Garrett and his production group, Team S. Dot, receive writing and production credits, as does Miykal Snoddy. The song was released as the album's second single in the United States on September 21, 2010.
"Monster" is a song by American rapper Kanye West, released as the third single from his fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010). The song features rappers Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and Nicki Minaj, along with indie folk group Bon Iver. All five credited acts have writing credits on the posse cut, with the production handled by West and Mike Dean. The instrumental is atmospheric and drum-heavy, and the lyrics reflect influences from horror films, creating an eerie composition which drew critical comparisons to the Michael Jackson track "Thriller".
DJMax Mobile is a version of the DJMax rhythm action game specifically developed for mobile phones. As of 2011, two separate titles exists of the game from separate developers who licensed the DJMax brand from the Pentavision. These mobile games were available only in Korea. DJMax Mobile has two different gameplay styles. First mode is similar to DJMax Portable series where you press physical buttons at a specific time. However, if your mobile phone has a touch-screen capability you can also play the game in year 2009 version using mode, which is similar to DJMax Technika where you do very specific touch gestures to control the game. DJMax Mobile games are not considered as a part of the main game series because they weren't developed by Pentavision and quality of these games is average even when compared to other similar mobile games. Both of these games are discontinued. The spiritual successor for the DJMax Mobile series is called Tap Sonic.
DJMax Technika 3 is a music arcade game published and developed by Pentavision in South Korea, and is a sequel to the earlier DJMax Technika 2 arcade game in the DJMax game series.
DJMax Technika Tune is a music game for the PlayStation Vita published and developed by Pentavision Studio in South Korea, and is an adaptation of the earlier DJMax Technika arcade game series. It is the 16th title in the DJMax series.
DJMax Technika Q was a music mobile game developed by Team ARES and published by Neowiz Games in South Korea, and was an adaptation of the earlier DJMax Technika arcade series.
