Assam first competed at the 2018 North East Olympic Games at Manipur. [2] The team end up being the runner up with total 140 Medals, out of which 46 were gold medals, 53 silver medals and 41 bronze medals. [3]
In 2022 North East Olympic Games, Assam ranks second at medal tally being the runner up with a total of 203 medals including 79 gold medals. [4] [5]
At the 2024 North East Olympic Games, Assam came third at medal tally while Manipur emerges as overall champion and Nagaland being the runner up. [6] Assam won 140 medals including 43 gold, 44 silver and 53 bronze medals. [7]

The 2000 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXVII Olympiad, were a summer multi-sport event held in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, from 15 September to 1 October 2000. Nikolay Vasiliyevich Karpol is a Russian women's volleyball coach and a longstanding coach of the Soviet national team and later the Russia women's national volleyball team. Mangte Chungneijang "Mary" Kom is an Indian Olympic boxer, politician, and former Member of Rajya Sabha. She became the first Indian female boxer to win a gold medal in the Asian Games in 2014 at Incheon, South Korea and is the first Indian female boxer to win gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She is also the only boxer to become Asian Amateur Boxing Champion for a record six times. Mary Kom won the 51kg gold in President's Cup in Indonesia.
Angola participates in the Lusophone Games, a multi-sport event for Portuguese-speaking countries, as a member of ACOLOP. Angola participated in the 2006 games in Macau, the first edition of the Lusophone Games. Angola has sent athletes to all three editions of the Lusophone Games and won medals at all three. Angola did not win any gold medals in 2006 but has won gold medals at all Games since, with four in 2009 and five in 2014.

At the 1991 Mediterranean Games, the athletics events were held at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece. A total of 38 events were contested, of which 23 by male and 15 by female athletes. An exhibition heptathlon also took place, with Algeria's Yasmina Azzizi being the only athlete to compete. Several hundred athletes from fourteen Mediterranean nations took part in the competition.

She won gold medal at 2023 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships and bronze medals at the 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships and the 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships. Borgohain is the first female athlete and the second boxer from Assam to represent the state in the Olympics. In 2020, she became the sixth person from Assam to receive Arjuna Award.
