The 2000 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXVII Olympiad, were a summer multi-sport event held in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, from 15 September to 1 October 2000. A total of 10,651 athletes from 199 nations represented by National Olympic Committees (NOCs), including the Olympic debuts of Eritrea, Micronesia and Palau. The games featured 300 events in 28 sports across 39 disciplines, including the Olympic debuts of synchronized diving, taekowndo, triathlon and trampolining.
The 1984 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIII Olympiad, were a summer multi-sport event held in Los Angeles, California, United States, from July 28 to August 12. A total of 6,829 athletes from 140 nations participated in 221 events in 21 sports.

Nikolay Vasiliyevich Karpol is a Russian women's volleyball coach and a longstanding coach of the Soviet national team and later the Russia women's national volleyball team. Known as The Howling Bear, Karpol was a regular at the Olympic Games, with his teams usually earning a last call on the Olympic podium, winning gold medals in 1980 and 1988 and taking the silver medals in 1992, 2000, and 2004, for a total of five Olympic medals. In 2020, he set a new world record by coaching Uralochka for 51 years.

Mangte Chungneijang "Mary" Kom is an Indian Olympic boxer, politician, and former Member of Rajya Sabha. She is the only woman to win the World Amateur Boxing Championship six times, the only female boxer to have won a medal in each one of the first seven World Championships, and the only boxer to win eight World Championship medals. Nicknamed Magnificent Mary, she was the only Indian female boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she competed in the flyweight (51 kg) category and won a bronze medal. She had also been ranked as the world's No. 1 female light-flyweight by the International Boxing Association (amateur) (AIBA). She became the first Indian female boxer to win a gold medal in the Asian Games in 2014 at Incheon, South Korea and is the first Indian female boxer to win gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She is also the only boxer to become Asian Amateur Boxing Champion for a record six times. Mary Kom won the 51kg gold in President's Cup in Indonesia.
Angola participates in the Lusophone Games, a multi-sport event for Portuguese-speaking countries, as a member of ACOLOP. Angola participated in the 2006 games in Macau, the first edition of the Lusophone Games. Angola has sent athletes to all three editions of the Lusophone Games and won medals at all three. Angola did not win any gold medals in 2006 but has won gold medals at all Games since, with four in 2009 and five in 2014.

At the 1991 Mediterranean Games, the athletics events were held at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece. A total of 38 events were contested, of which 23 by male and 15 by female athletes. An exhibition heptathlon also took place, with Algeria's Yasmina Azzizi being the only athlete to compete. Several hundred athletes from fourteen Mediterranean nations took part in the competition.

The 2015 National Games, also known as the 35th National Games of India, was a national multi-sport event held in the Indian state of Kerala, from 31 January to 14 February. An estimated total of 11,641 athletes from 37 teams participated in 405 events in 33 sports. It was the second edition to be hosted by Kerala, the first being 1987.

Lovlina Borgohain is an Indian boxer. She won a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in the women's welterweight event, becoming only the third Indian boxer to win a medal at the Olympics. She won gold medal at 2023 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships and bronze medals at the 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships and the 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships. Borgohain is the first female athlete and the second boxer from Assam to represent the state in the Olympics. In 2020, she became the sixth person from Assam to receive Arjuna Award.
The Manipur Olympic Games 2022, also known as the 2nd Manipur Olympic Games, is a multi-sport event, held in Manipur, Northeast India. The previous event, which was also the first event, was organised in the year 1988. After a long gap of 34 years, the 2nd edition of the Manipur Olympic Games was organised in the year 2022.
The North East Games formerly known as North East Olympic Games (NEOG) are a Multi-sport event held in Northeast India. The eight states of the region compete in each edition.
The 2024 North East Olympic Games were the 3rd edition of North East Olympic Games. held in Nagaland, the CM of nagaland Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the event on 18 March 2024.
The 2018 North East Olympic Games were the first edition of North East Games. It was held in Manipur in October 2018.
Manipur is one of the eight states of India that competes in the North East Games.
