Conca de Barberà is a comarca (county) in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. Its total area is 650.24 km2 (251.1 sq mi). Xavier Miserachs i Ribalta was a Spanish photographer. He studied medicine at the University of Barcelona, but left school to be a photographer. He exhibited his work in Barcelona from 1956. His work is reminiscent of neorealism and is representative of the years of Spanish economic recovery, 1950–1960. His photographs show him as a creator of a new image of the city and its people. In 1998 he received the Creu de Sant Jordi of the Catalan government.
"El cant dels ocells" is a traditional Catalan Christmas song and lullaby. It tells of nature's joy at learning of the birth of Jesus Christ in a stable in Bethlehem. The song was made famous outside Catalonia by Pau Casals' instrumental version on the cello. After his exile in 1939, he would begin each of his concerts by playing this song. For this reason, it is often considered a symbol of Catalonia.
Enric Casals i Defilló, brother of Pablo Casals, was a Spanish violinist, composer and conductor.
El Jardí dels Ocells is a small bird park near the city of Vilafranca del Penedès, in Catalunya, Spain. The bird park is at about 60 km. distance from Barcelona and Tarragona and is situated about half way between these cities.
