August Robert Schmidt IV (born June 28,1961) is the current head coach of the Carthage College baseball team. He was a minor league baseball shortstop from 1982 to 1986.
Schmidt attended Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the ninth round (230th overall) of the 1979 Major League Baseball Draft,but he did not sign with the team. [1] Instead,he attended the University of New Orleans,where he played college baseball.
In 1981 he won a gold medal as a member of the United States national team in World Games I.
In 1982 he won the Golden Spikes Award,an award given to the top amateur baseball player in the United States. [2]
Schmidt was drafted second overall in the 1982 Major League Baseball Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. After signing with the team,he spent the rest of the 1982 season with the Kinston Blue Jays,hitting .297 in 50 games. [3]
The following season he was promoted to the Knoxville Blue Jays,where he played in 135 games with a batting average of .266 and 28 doubles. [3]
In 1984,he was again promoted,splitting time between Knoxville and the Syracuse Chiefs of the International League,although there he had problems with both his fielding and hitting and only had a batting average of .201 in 46 games. [4]
Despite advancing to Triple-A by 1984,Schmidt never made the major leagues with the Blue Jays,because of issues with injuries and a logjam at shortstop in the Blue Jays organization. [5] At the end Schmidt was traded to the San Francisco Giants along with Jim Gott for pitcher Gary Lavelle;he began the season with the Phoenix Giants,getting a fresh start in 1985. [5] He played in 59 games for Phoenix and 12 more for the Shreveport Captains,then spent the 1986 season with the Kenosha Twins of the Minnesota Twins organization,where he hit .226 in 71 games. [3]
He retired in 1986 and in 1987 was an assistant coach at Carthage College in his hometown of Kenosha,Wisconsin,where his father,Augie Schmidt III,had been head coach from 1962 to 1980. He became the head baseball coach in 1988,and has been the head coach since. [6]
Schmidt's nephew,Gavin Lux,is an infielder and outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers. [7]
Robert Edward Crosby is an American former professional baseball infielder and current coach. He played in Major League Baseball for the Oakland Athletics,Pittsburgh Pirates,and Arizona Diamondbacks. The son of former major league infielder Ed Crosby,he batted and threw right-handed. He was Rookie of the Year in 2004.
Christopher Michael Woodward is an American former professional baseball utility player,coach and manager. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Toronto Blue Jays,New York Mets,Atlanta Braves,Seattle Mariners,and Boston Red Sox,from 1999 through 2012. He then served as a coach for the Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers,from 2014 through 2018 and managed the Texas Rangers from 2019 to 2022. He is currently a special assistant and roving instructor for the Dodgers.
Garth Ray Iorg is an American former professional baseball player who played his entire career for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also worked as the first base coach for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Jody Eric Reed is an American former professional baseball second baseman and the third base coach for the Miami Marlins. He played 11 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) between 1987 and 1997 for the Boston Red Sox,Los Angeles Dodgers,Milwaukee Brewers,San Diego Padres,and Detroit Tigers.
Larry Eugene Hisle is an American former professional baseball player and hitting coach. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as an outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies (1968–71),Minnesota Twins (1973–77),and Milwaukee Brewers (1978–82). A two-time All-Star,he was the 1977 American League (AL) RBI champion. As a coach,Hisle was a member of two World Series-winning teams for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Mariano Duncan Nalasco is a retired second baseman and shortstop who played for several Major League Baseball teams during his 12-year career. He was the infield coach and first base coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers under Managers Grady Little and Joe Torre. Duncan currently serves as the hitting coach for the Brooklyn Cyclones,the New York Mets' High-A team.
Edward James Zosky is a former professional baseball shortstop. He played in brief parts of five seasons in Major League Baseball,between 1991 and 2000,for the Toronto Blue Jays,Florida Marlins,Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros. He also played in the Baltimore Orioles,San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates minor league systems.
John T. Shelby is a former center fielder in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played from 1981 to 1991. He began his career as a member of the Baltimore Orioles before later playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers. Shelby was a member of two World Series–winning teams:the 1983 Orioles and the 1988 Dodgers. His nickname was "T-Bone" because of his slight frame. He currently is a coach in the Atlanta Braves minor league system.

Donald Robert "Duffy" Dyer is an American former professional baseball player who is the manager of the Kenosha Kingfish of the Northwoods League collegiate summer baseball league. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher for the New York Mets (1968–1974),Pittsburgh Pirates (1975–1978),Montreal Expos (1979),and Detroit Tigers (1980–1981).

The 1961 Cincinnati Reds season was a season in American baseball. It consisted of the Reds winning the National League pennant with a 93–61 record,four games ahead of the runner-up Los Angeles Dodgers,but losing the World Series in five games to the New York Yankees. The Reds were managed by Fred Hutchinson,and played their home games at Crosley Field. The Reds were also the last team to win the National League in the 154-game schedule era,before going to a 162-game schedule a year later.
Kevin Patrick Pasley is a retired professional baseball player whose career spanned 12 seasons. For parts of four seasons,Pasley,a catcher,played in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Los Angeles Dodgers,and the Seattle Mariners (1977–78). Over his career in the majors,he compiled a .254 batting average with eight runs scored,31 hits,seven doubles,one home run,and nine runs batted in (RBIs). Pasley hit his only career major league home run in what would prove to be his final at-bat in the majors on October 1,1978.
