Michael Jay Fuentes (born July 11,1958) is an American former Major League Baseball player. He attended Florida State University,where he was the 1981 recipient of the Golden Spikes Award.
Fuentes was selected by the Montreal Expos with their second-round pick in the 1981 Major League Baseball draft. [1] Fuentes was 25 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 2,1983,with the Expos. He played in a total of nine games in the majors,eight as a pinch hitter or pinch runner and one in left field. He went 2-for-8 at the plate,with no extra base hits or RBI.
Timothy Raines Sr.,nicknamed "Rock",is an American professional baseball coach and former player. He played as a left fielder in Major League Baseball for six teams from 1979 to 2002 and was best known for his 13 seasons with the Montreal Expos. A seven-time All-Star,four-time stolen base champion,and National League batting champion,Raines is regarded as one of the best leadoff hitters and baserunners in baseball history. The 1981 Montreal Expos season was the 13th season in franchise history. They made it to the postseason for the first time in franchise history. Their playoff run ended in the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers,with Rick Monday hitting a ninth-inning solo home run in game 5,subsequently referred to as "Blue Monday" by Expos fans.
