Commercial performance

As of 22 January 2016, the album peaked at the top of the South African Hip hop / Rap iTunes Chart. The single "Roll Up" entered the top 3 of the South African Hip hop / Rap Singles Chart on iTunes.

As of July 2016, the album has since been certified platinum by RISA for selling over 40,000 units. [3]

First Single From Avery Roll Up debuted at no. 3 on the SA Top 100 chart topping for 5 weeks in a row with that said Roll Up has been certified 3× Platinum by RiSA. Second single which is the remix which features SA Hip Hop heavyweight AKA and Nigerian star WizKid put released as Roll Up(Re-Up) peaked at no. 2 on the SA Top 100 chart charting in the top ten for 7 weeks until dropping to no.13 in its eighth week on the chart. Roll Up(Re-Up) has been since certified Platinum by RiSA.The Third single from Avery Pearl Thusi debuted at no.7 on the SA Top 100 chart and peaked at no.1 for 3 weeks in a row and has become one of the best songs in SA Hip Hop History. Pearl Thusi has since been certified Platinum by RiSA becoming Emtee's third Certified single Since Roll Up. Ngeke which features South African rapper, Fifi Cooper has since peaked at no.13 on the SA Top 100 chart. A promotional single titled Mama was released on mother's day to honour all mothers, and has since peaked at no.9 and was certified Gold by RiSA.The fifth single from Avery titled We Up was one of the biggest songs in SA in 2016 and is still the biggest song to ever drop in SA Hip Hop History. We Up peaked at no.7 on the SA TOP 100 becoming Emtee's fifth Top Ten Single and has since been certified Platinum by RiSA.

Mthembeni Ndevu, professionally known by his stage name Emtee is a South African rapper. He was born and grew up in Rockville, Soweto, where he was involved in talent shows. His career began at the age of 17, and his debut hit single, "Roll Up" was released in 2015. Emtee was signed to Ambitiouz Entertainment, released his debut album Avery (2015), which was commercially successful and was eventually certified platinum by Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).

The album was released on 26 February 2016, by Urbantainment, under exclusive license to Sony Music Entertainment Africa. The album was certified diamond and became South Africa's best selling hip-hop album of all time.

"Ngud'" is a song from South African rapper Kwesta's third studio album DaKAR II (2016). The song features a guest appearance from Cassper Nyovest. The song was produced by DJ Maphorisa and samples Joakim's remix of "Camino Del Sol" by Antena. It debuted at number 1 on iTunes and also debuted at number 7 on the EMA Local Top 10 chart. It peaked at number 1, making it Kwesta's first number one on the chart. It was certified 5× platinum by RISA. As of June 2016, the song had spent 14 non-consecutive weeks at 1 and was the most playlisted song on South African radio in 2016.

Shane Patrick Hughes, known professionally as Shane Eagle, is a South African rapper and songwriter. He rose to fame in 2015, after finishing fourth place on the first season of the Vuzu rapping reality competition, The Hustle. After releasing several non-album singles, Eagle released his debut album Yellow in 2017, which features the gold-certified lead single, "Let It Flow". In October 2019, Eagle released his debut mixtape, Dark Moon Flower which boasted features from American rappers, Kota the friend, Santi, Caleborate, Dreamville's Lute and Bas along with the English band, The Hics and fellow South African rappers Nasty C and PatrickxxLee.

Lehlogonolo Ronald Mataboge, known professionally as A-Reece, is a South African hip hop artist, songwriter, record producer and record label executive. He was raised in Pretoria, Gauteng.

Jabulani Hadebe, known professionally as Sjava, is a South African singer, rapper, and actor. He began his acting career in 2005, starring in several drama series and films including uGugu no Andile (2009). He then rose to prominence on the drama series Zone 14, where he starred for three consecutive seasons, Isibaya and the second season of eHostela. Sjava ventured into the music industry and signed to record label Ambitiouz Entertainment. He gained mainstream popularity after he was featured on Miss Pru's acclaimed song "Ameni" in 2015.

South African hip hop artist and record producer AKA has released four studio albums, two collaborative albums with Anatii as well as Costa Titch respectively, one extended play (EP), 42 singles and 23 music videos. South African rapper Nasty C has released four studio albums, two extended plays (EPs), 16 singles and 22 music videos. Nasty C's music has been released on record labels Venomous Production, Outy Records, Free World Music, Mabala Noise Entertainment and Universal Music. He gained major attention after the release of his second mixtape Price City, which was released in 2015. He won the Best Freshman Award at the 2015 South African Hip Hop Awards for Price City at the age of 18, making him the youngest recipient for the award.

"Sete" is a single by South African rapper K.O featuring Young Stunna and Blxckie released on 19 August 2022 through Skhanda World and Sony, off SR3 (2022), as album's lead single. It was written by Ntokozo Mdluli, Sandile Msimango, Sihle Sithole.
