Avtar Singh Kang is a Punjabi singer and Punjabi folk contributor. He is also known as 'A.S.' Kang.
Born to a Sikh family in Kultham village of Nawashehar district of Punjab now called SBS Nagar in Indian Punjab, Kang was educated in the Govt. School for 14 years and then moved to U.K. there he played Kabaddi for some time then recorded his first EP- Lut Ke Lehgai in 1976 in the UK which become a super hit. This was the start of a new Phenomena, Kang was the first UK solo Punjabi artist to release an album. He was also the first UK artist to become international and get a record contract with HMV India. He was also the first UK Punjabi artist to do a recording in India. This recording was of the Giddian Di Rani Album with music produced by K.S.Narula ( father of Jaspinder Narula). Gidhian di rani has gone on to become one of the biggest hit songs in the history of Punjabi music and made Kang a household name amongst Punjabi people. Kang also became the first Punjabi artist to tour North America and many other countries. He then went on to record many other hits songs including: Ashiq Tera, Lambharan Di Nau, Desi boliyan, Valeti Boliyan and Aish Karo.

In 2010 Kang was awarded "Lifetime Achievement" award the Brit Asia TV Music Awards. [1]
He recorded Gidhiyan di raniya in HMV New Delhi with Mr. Narula.which was distributed and produced by HMV.

Rajinder Singh Rai, better known by his stage name Panjabi MC, is a British-Indian recording artist, rapper, producer and DJ. He is best known for the worldwide 2002 bhangra hit "Mundian To Bach Ke", which sold 10 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time. Among other songs, he gained acclaim with the 2003 release "Jogi". AllMusic has called him "one of the most prominent names in bhangra".
Music of Punjab reflects the traditions of the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent, associated with Punjabi language. Punjab is currently divided into two parts: East Punjab, in India, and West Punjab, the most populous province of Pakistan. The Punjab has diverse styles of music, ranging from folk and Sufi to classical, notably the Patiala gharana. Contemporary Punjabi music has tended to include more modern hip-hop and R&B sounds. While this style of music is obviously most popular in Punjab, it has seen popularity across the subcontinent and areas with large Punjabi diaspora populations, such as Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Amar Singh Chamkila was an Indian singer and musician of Punjabi music. Chamkila's vivid language, high pitched vocals, novel compositions accompanied with masterful Tumbi made him famous. His themes majorly consisted of women objectification, alcoholism, sexual violence, domestic violence and borderline pedophilia. Chamkila and his second wife Amarjot were killed, along with two members of their band on 8 March 1988 in an assassination which remains unresolved.
Surjit Bindrakhia was a singer from Punjab, India. He was known for his unique voice and hekh, in which he sings a note continuously in one breath. His biggest hits include Meri Nath Dig Paye, Dupatta Tera Satrang Da, Lakk Tunoo Tunoo, Bas Kar Bas Kar, Mukhda Dekh Ke, Tera Yaar Bolda, and Jatt Di Pasand. Surjit is considered to have one of the greatest voices in Bhangra. He received a special jury award at the 2004 Filmfare Awards for his contribution to Punjabi music.
Surinder Pal Dhammi, better known as Surinder Shinda, was an Indian singer of Punjabi music who is considered a "grandfather of MOC ", and has been described as "legendary". He had numerous hit songs including "Jatt Jeona Morh", "Putt Jattan De", "Truck Billiya", "Balbiro Bhabhi" and "Kaher Singh Di Mout". He has also appeared in Punjabi films such as Putt Jattan De and Ucha Dar Babe Nanak Da.

He is most known for working with a numorous Punjabi artists including Manak-E, the late Kaka Bhaniawala, Tegi Pannu, Bakshi Billa, Prabh Gill, Lehmber Hussainpuri, Navaan Sandhu, AP Dhillon, Gurinder Gill, Himmat Sandhu and Akhil. He rose to fame in 2003 with his song "Kangna", which was voted the best song on BBC Asian Network in the same year. He has worked with singer Kanika Kapoor for the song "Jugni Ji" and with musician Jaz Dhami for the song "Zulfa". His song "Aag Ka Dariya" features on the Four Lions film soundtrack. A music video was also produced featuring Czech model Yana Gupta and singers Ravindra & DJ Shortie.
Ranjit Singh Bajwa known professionally as Ranjit Bawa, is an Indian singer and actor associated with Punjabi language music and films. He rose to fame from his single "Jatt Di Akal" from his debut in the 2015 album, Mitti Da Bawa which was awarded the "Best World Album" award in the 2015 Brit Asia TV Music Awards. He has also received "PTC Best Folk oriented Song Award" in 2013 for his Song in 2013, Jatt Di Akal. His numorous songs including 'Yaari Chandigarh Waliye' and 'Impress' peaked on UK Asian Music Chart and UK Punjabi Music Charts. He made his film debut in playing the title role in Toofan Singh, a semi-biographical film about the 1980s Punjabi activist Shaheed Bhai Jugraj Singh Toofan.
Atul Sharma is a multiple-award-winning music composer, producer, sitarist, singer and judge on the popular TV show "Voice of Punjab".
