The Awadh Samman is an award constituted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, to honor exceptional and meritorious contribution in their chosen field/profession. Prominent recipients of award include Naushad, Lata Mangeshkar, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Amitabh Bachchan, Ashok Kumar Udit Narayan and A R Rahman. [1]

<i>Paa</i> (film) 2010 Indian film directed by R. Balki

Paa (transl. Father) is a 2009 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed by R. Balki, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vidya Balan. Jaya Bachchan makes a cameo appearance in the opening credits of the film as a narrator. The film is inspired by the 1996 Hollywood film Jack as per some reports and is based on the relationship of a boy with a rare genetic condition known as progeria and his parents. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, in real life, are father and son respectively, but in Paa, they played opposite roles. The film was released worldwide on 4 December 2009. Veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja scored the music. The film was critically acclaimed in India and fared well at the box office. Despite a warm reception from Indian film critics, the film received mixed reviews from overseas film critics, according to the websites Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes. Rajesh Khanna was an Indian actor, politician and film producer who is known for his work in Hindi cinema. During his career, he appeared in more than 180 films. He starred in 15 consecutive solo hit films from 1969 to 1971. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor three times and the BFJA Awards for Best Actor (Hindi) four times, received the Filmfare Special Award in 1991, and was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. Khanna has been called the First Superstar of Indian cinema.

The 10th International Indian Film Academy Awards were a major film awards ceremony honoring the best Bollywood films of 2008. The ceremony was held in The Venetian Macao, Macau from 11 June to 13 June 2009. The choice of Macau as host city was considered a well-planned decision, aimed at reducing tensions between India and China, as well as to end the "deadlock" between the two countries over the issue of exchange of cinema. The ceremony was hosted by Boman Irani, Ritesh Deshmukh and Lara Dutta.

The 2005 IIFA Awards, officially known as the 6th International Indian Film Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the International Indian Film Academy honoured the best films of 2004 and took place between 9–11 June 2005.

Sarvagya Singh Katiyar, FRSC, popularly known as S. S. Katiyar, was an Indian scientist specializing in enzymology, and the founder Director of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow. He is a former president of the Association of Indian Universities and a former vice chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur and Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology. He was honoured by the Government of India in 2003 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award, followed by Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, in 2009.

Vinod Bhakuni (1962–2011) was an Indian molecular biophysicist and the head of the Molecular and Structural Biology Division of the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI). He was the founder of the Protein Chemistry laboratory of CDRI and was known for his contributions to the study of protein folding. A recipient of the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, he was an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and the National Academy of Sciences, India. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards, in 2006, for his contributions to biological sciences.

Yash Bharati Award is the highest civilian award of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Instituted in 1994, it is awarded to those personalities whose contribution is remarkable in the field of literature, social work, medicine, film, science, journalism, handicrafts, culture, education, music, drama, sports, industry and astrology.
