Bharat Bhushan (born 30 April 1952) is an Indian yoga guru and honoured by Padma Shri for yoga in 1991. [1]
In 1971, Bhushan founded a yoga centre, Mokshayatan International Yogashram, at the age of 20. Having travelled a lot, he has been sharing his experience and expertise in yoga with Indian as well as foreign enthusiasts on different TV channels since 1978.
Bhushan has worked with the Indian armed forces, industries, scientists, schools, colleges and people of different religious faiths. He has been honoured with Awadh Samman- "life time Achievement Award" by Zee news & U.P. Government and "life time Achievement Award" for significant contribution to Health Care profession given by AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science)& AYUSH Ministry of Health. [2]
He is involved in the yoga campaign called "Jago Bharat Dhyan Yog andolan" in collaboration with Zee Network. [3]
Bhushan helped to initiate and conduct the first International Yoga Festival at Rishikesh. [4]
From his college days he has made efforts to introduce yoga as part of the education system in universities and schools. [5]
He initiated a campaign to preserve traditional form of yoga by using the traditional name bharat yoga and teaching traditional style of yoga through his school Mokshayatan International Yogashram. [6]
The Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award of the Republic of India. Instituted on 2 January 1954, the award is conferred in recognition of "exceptional service/performance of the highest order", without distinction of race, occupation, position, or sex. The award was originally limited to achievements in the arts, literature, science, and public services, but the government expanded the criteria to include "any field of human endeavour" in December 2011. The recommendations for the Bharat Ratna are made by the Prime Minister to the President, with a maximum of three nominees being awarded per year. The recipients receive a Sanad (certificate) signed by the President and a peepal leaf-shaped medallion. There is no monetary grant associated with the award. Bharat Ratna recipients rank seventh in the Indian order of precedence.
The Padma Bhushan is the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India, preceded by the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibhushan and followed by the Padma Shri. Instituted on 2 January 1954, the award is given for "distinguished service of a high order...without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex." The award criteria include "service in any field including service rendered by Government servants" including doctors and scientists, but exclude those working with the public sector undertakings. As of 2020, the award has been bestowed on 1270 individuals, including twenty-four posthumous and ninety-seven non-citizen recipients.
D. Veerendra Heggade is an Indian Jain philanthropist and the hereditary administrator (Dharmadhikari) of the Dharmasthala Temple. He succeeded to the post at the age of 19, on October 24, 1968, the 21st in his line. He administers the temple and its properties, which are held in trust for the benefit of devotees and of Dharma. He is a nominated Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha since July 2022.

Diwan Bahadur Sir Arcot Lakshmanaswami Mudaliar, FRCOG, FACS was an Indian educationist and physician. He was the identical younger twin brother of Sir Arcot Ramasamy Mudaliar. Initial education was in Kurnool and they moved to Chennai in 1903.

His cousins Nasir Moinuddin Dagar and Nasir Aminuddin Dagar were known as the Senior Dagar Brothers. Similarly, Nasir Zahiruddin and Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar were known as the Junior Dagar Brothers. His other cousins were Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, Fariduddin Dagar, and H. Sayeeduddin Dagar.
Prabhakar Vaidya is an Indian physical educationist, academic and the honorary secretary of Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal, a century-old organization and a national institution working towards modernizing the traditional systems of Sports & Games. He was honored by the Government of India, in 2012, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.
Ambrish Mithal is an Indian endocrinologist and the Chairman and Head of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Max Healthcare- Pan-Max, Saket, New Delhi, where he started working in December 2019. He secured the master's degree (DM) from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and subsequently worked at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow and, later, at Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi before joining Medanta the Medicity as Chairman, Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes where he worked from 2009 to 2019. Mithal was honoured by the Government of India in 2015 with Padma Bhushan, the third highest Indian civilian award, for his outstanding contribution to the field of medicine. In September 2020 Dr Mithal became the first Indian to be chosen for the Laureate Award for International Excellence in Endocrinology (2021) by the Endocrine Society (US).
Silverine Swer (1910–2014), popularly known as Kong Sil, was an Indian social and environmental activist, educationist and civil servant. She was the first person of tribal origin to hold senior posts with the Government of Meghalaya, and was a recipient of the Silver Elephant Medal of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Award and Kaisar-i-Hind Medal. The Government of India awarded her the fourth highest civilian award of Padma Shri in 1990, making her the first recipient of the award from the state of Meghalaya.
Kunwar Singh Negi was an Indian braille editor and social worker. He has transliterated 300 books into braille. His major works include Bhagwan Buddh Ka Updesh and Hazrat Mohammed Ki Vani, both being about teachings of Gautam Buddha and Muhammad. He was presented with Indian civilian awards Padma Shri in 1981 and later with Padma Bhushan in 1990.
