Bandi Ramakrishna Reddy is an Indian linguist,known for his work on conservation of endangered languages including Kuvi,Manda,and Kui. He is a professor at Osmania University. [2] [1]
He was born in Rentalachenu. He completed his bachelor's and master's degrees from Sri Venkateswara University. [2] He subsequently joined the Deccan College and obtained a degree in linguistics. [3]
Between 1970 and 1972,he worked at the Central Institute of Indian Languages. In 1972,he was awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship,and proceeded to the University of Edinburgh for doctoral studies. During his doctorate,he was supervised by Ronald E. Asher. [3]
Between 1977 and 1990,he worked at the Department of Linguistics at Osmania University. Afterwards,he joined the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. [3] He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2023. [4]
In 1995,he co-authored the Kuvi-Oriya-English dictionary. [3]
He was married to Professor Nagamma Reddy.
Osmania University is a collegiate public state university located in Hyderabad,Telangana,India. Mir Osman Ali Khan,the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad,issued a firman calling for its creation on 29 August 1917. Shantha Sinha is an Indian anti-child labour activist. She is the founder of Mamidipudi Venkatarangaiya Foundation,popularly known as MV Foundation,and is a professor in the Department of Political science in Hyderabad Central University. She headed the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights for two consecutive terms;The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) was set up in March 2007 under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act,2005,an Act of Parliament. Sinha was its first chairperson. She was awarded the civilian honour of Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1998.
Bhadriraju Krishnamurti was an Indian linguist,specialized in Dravidian languages. He was born in Ongole. He was Vice Chancellor of Hyderabad Central University from 1986 to 1993 and founded the Department of Linguistics at Osmania University where he served as professor from 1962 to 1986. His magnum opus The Dravidian Languages is considered a landmark volume in the study of Dravidian linguistics.
Ashok Ramchandra Kelkar (1929–2014) was a linguist and critical Marathi writer from Maharashtra,India. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2002 and Sahitya Akademi Award for Marathi in 2010.

The Dravidian Linguistics Association is a learned society of scholars of Dravidian languages,based in Thiruvananthapuram. It holds the annual "Conference of Dravidian Linguists". The president is P.T. Murugaretnam.
Raja and Radha Reddy are an Indian Kuchipudi dancing couple,gurus and choreographers. They are renowned as exponents of the South Indian dance form of Kuchipudi. They founded and run the Natya Tarangini Institute of Kuchipudi Dance in New Delhi. The duo are credited with having given Kuchipudi a new dimension without compromising on its traditional virtues. For their services to the field of arts,the Government of India has conferred on them the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards.
Masud Husain Khan was an Indian linguist,the first Professor Emeritus in Social Sciences at Aligarh Muslim University and the fifth Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia,a Central University in New Delhi.
Vellayani Arjunan was an Indian writer,scholar,and linguist from Kerala. He served two terms at the State Institute of Encyclopaedic Publications as chief editor from 1975 to 1988 and as director from 2001 to 2004. During his tenure at the institute,seven volumes of the 12-volume Malayalam encyclopedia Viswasahityavijnanakosam were published. He is credited with several publications,including children's literature and critical studies. His book Gaveshana Mekhala has been a prescribed text for the post graduate course M.A. Malayalam at the Aligarh Muslim University. A recipient of the Paramacharya Award from Sarojini Bhaskaran Memorial Charitable Public Trust,he was honored by the Government of India in 2008 with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.
Chittoor Mohammed Habeebullah was an Indian gastroenterologist,known for his contributions to the medical discipline of gastroenterology in India. Born in 1937 in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh,Habeebullah graduated in medicine (MBBS) from the Guntur Medical College in 1958,after which he secured his master's degree in general medicine (MD) from Andhra University and DM from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research,Chandigarh. He started his career as an assistant professor at the Department of Gastroenterology,Osmania Medical College and served as the professor and the Head of the Department from 1975 to 1992 and thereafter as the principal till 1994. He also served as the Director,Centre for Liver Research and Diagnostics,Deccan College of Medical Sciences,Hyderabad and as the Director of Medical Education,Government of Andhra Pradesh. He was a 1997 Fellow of The National Academy of Sciences,India and had many scientific publications to his credit. A recipient of the Khwarizmi International Award in 1997,Habeebullah was honored by the Government of India,in 2001,with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri. He died on 10 July 2010,falling to a cardiac arrest.
Mohan Kameswaran is an Indian otorhinolaryngologist,medical academic and the founder of MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing,a Chennai-based institution providing advanced training in audiology and speech-language pathology. He is one of the pioneers of cochlear implant surgery in India and a visiting professor at Rajah Muthiah Medical College of the Annamalai University and Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute,Chennai. He has many firsts to his credit such as the performance of the first auditory brain stem implantation surgery in South and South East Asia,the first pediatric brain stem implantation surgery in Asia,the first totally implantable hearing device surgery in Asia Pacific region,and the first to introduce KTP/532 laser-assisted ENT surgery in India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri,in 2006,for his contributions to Indian medicine.
Anumolu Ramakrishna (1939–2013) was an Indian civil and structural engineer,corporate executive and the deputy managing director of Larsen &Toubro Construction,the largest construction company in India as per 2013 statistics. He was credited with the introduction of system formwork and precast and prestressed concrete technologies in Indian construction industry,procedures which helped increase productivity,and was a co-founder of the India chapter of FSL - Global Forum on Structural Longevity. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan,posthumously in 2014,for his contributions to science and technology.
Syed Hasan Askari was an Indian historian. His literary work was recognized by the Indian government and focused on medieval Sufism,the regional history of Bihar,and aspects of cultural history of medieval India. He authored,edited and translated more than 250 articles,research papers,forewords,prefaces,and book reviews,which have been awarded by the Indian government and published in multiple journals,books and proceedings.
Deshamanya Vajira Chitrasena is a veteran Sri Lankan traditional dancer,choreographer and teacher. Vajira is regarded as Sri Lanka's first prima ballerina. She is the first Sri Lankan woman to practice the traditional Kandyan dance which was traditionally performed only by men. Vajira is credited for creating brand for female style of Kandyan dancing and set the tone for women to become ritual dancers. She was married to Chitrasena who was a well known legendary dancer and dance guru. On 26 January 2020,she along with late professor Indra Dassanayake was conferred with the Padma Shri award which is one of the highest Indian civilian awards coinciding with the 71st Republic Day of India.
Badaplin War is an Indian professor and a litterateur. In 2022,she was awarded the Padma Shri by the Indian Government for her contribution in literature and education.
Gaddam Padmaja Reddy is an Indian Kuchipudi exponent and music teacher. She performs ballets on mythological themes and contemporary social issues. She choreographed Kakatiyam,a Kuchipudi visual dance form. She was conferred with Kala Ratna in 2006,India's highest art award–Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2015 and Padma Shri,India's fourth highest civilian award,in the field of art for 2022.
Jaibhagwan Goyal also known as Prof. J. B. Goyal is an Indian littérateur,academic,professor who is credited for discovering 17th to 19th century Hindi literary works in Gurumukhi manuscripts. He is notable for his contribution to Sikh literature He was former Professor in the Hindi Department and served as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages,Kurukshetra University in Haryana.
