Sukhdev Pande

Sukhdev Pande (1893 - 1979 ) was an Indian academic administrator associated with the educational institutions managed by the Birla Education Trust. He guided the establishment of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) at the Vidya Vihar campus in Pilani in Rajasthan. [1] A statue of Sukhdev Pande adorns the main doorway leading to the Auditorium in BITS. [1] Before starting his career with Birla Education Trust, Pande was an Assistant Professor in Mathematics at the Benares Hindu University. As requested by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the founder and the first Vice-Chancellor of BHU, Pande moved to Pilani in 1929 and took charge as the Principal of the then recently established Intermediate College in Pilani. He stayed in Pilani for over 40 years and oversaw the development and transformation of the Intermediate College into the present day BITS. [2] [3]

In 1956, Govt of India conferred on Pande the Padma Shri award, the fourth highest civilian award in India, for his services in the field of literature and education. He was the first person from the region of India which now constitute the Uttarakhand State in India to receive this honor. [4]

Aacharya Satyanarayana was born on 6 December 1947 in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India. He is the founder of Meera Charitable Trust, which based in Jaipur, India. Additionally, he also established Meera Hospital in 1978. Satyanarayana is known to be a spiritual and motivational speaker who helped patients fight cancer by providing support in terms of financing, patients’ check up and early detection. He is also influential in spreading cancer awareness across India. Moreover, Satyanarayana has written many books on banking and has been awarded various honours.

Vajja Sambasiva Rao, also known as V. S. Rao is an Indian academician and the former President of NIIT University. Relinquishing his position at NIIT University on 30 June 2020, he embraced the role of Vice-Chancellor at SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh from 1 July 2020. He was previously the Acting Vice-Chancellor of BITS Pilani, and the Director of the Hyderabad Campus of the university. He was responsible for establishing BITS Hyderabad campus. He is an alumnus of BITS Pilani and had been associated with the university for more than four decades in various capacities. As director, he was regarded as being instrumental in the establishment of the Hyderabad Campus.
