Pushpesh Pant (born 1946) is an Indian academic, food critic and historian. [1] He retired as a Professor of International relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. [2] He is one of India's leading experts on International Relations as well as Indian cuisine, and as a columnist has written for a number of major publications like Forbes , [3] Open , [4] Outlook , [5] Times of India [6] and The Tribune . [7]

His book, India: The Cookbook (2011), was named by The New York Times as one of the best cookbooks of the year. [8]

Prof. Pant was also featured in Raja, Rasoi Aur Anya Kahaniyaan, an Indian television series on Indian cuisine available on The EPIC Channel. [9] The series gives an inside look into the royal kitchens of India and also explores the history behind the cuisine of the Indian royals, showing how dishes were discovered, and their significance in Indian history.[ citation needed ]

He was also featured in an interview in The Australian. [10]

The Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri in 2016. [11]

She has written over a dozen cookbooks and appeared on several related television programmes, the most notable of which was Madhur Jaffrey's Indian Cookery, which premiered in the UK in 1982. She was the food consultant at the now-closed Dawat, which was considered by many food critics to be among the best Indian restaurants in New York City.

He was awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009. He is Dean of the School of International Studies, Chair & professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University and honorary professor of international relations at the University of Melbourne. Until 19 June 2018, he served as Advisor to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, with the status of a Cabinet Minister. Mattoo is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the German Institute for Global and Area Studies and was recently elected unanimously as its Deputy Chair. He was the founding CEO of the Australia India Institute at the University of Melbourne and served as chairman of the governing board of Miranda House, University of Delhi, the highest-ranked women's college in India, and served as Chair of Kirori Mal College earlier He has also been a member of the Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing. In 2002, he was the youngest person to be appointed as vice chancellor of a public university in independent India. Mattoo's advice on policy matters has been sought across political parties and across governments, including by Prime Ministers Atal Behari Vajpayee and Dr Manmohan Singh. Following the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, he has offered a political roadmap for securing the future of Jammu and Kashmir. He has been a persistent advocate of multiculturalism and of reconciliation between Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Muslims.

Madhavan Kezhkepat Palat is an Indian historian, scholar of modern world, and political commentator. He is an expert on European and Russian history. In an academic career extending over nearly five decades, he has played a seminal role in promoting understanding of Russian history, culture, literature, and society in India.

Rameshwar Nath Koul Bamezai is an Indian scientist in the field of human genetics and cancer biology. He is the coordinator of the National Centre of Applied Human Genetics, School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has served as the Vice chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. He was honoured with the Padma Shri Award by the President of India for his contributions to the fields of science and technology, in 2012. An elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, he has published many articles on his research.

Mannaraswamighala Sreeranga Rajan (1920-2010) usually referred to as M.S. Rajan was an Indian academic who is widely acknowledged as the doyen of International Relations and Area Studies in India. Professor Rajan set up the Indian School of International Studies along with Pandit Hriday Nath Kunzru and Professor A. Appadorai in 1955.

Sudhir Kumar Sopory is an Indian educationist, plant physiologist, scientist and former vice chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is known to be the first to purify a protein kinase C activity from plants and is credited with the identification of topoisomerase as a substrate of protein kinase C. He is an elected Fellow of several major Indian science academies and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and is a recipient of many honours, including the 1987 Shanti Swarup Bhatangar Prize, the highest Indian award in the science and technology categories. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2007, for his contributions to science and technology.

Pitambar Pant was an Indian independence activist, civil service officer and writer, best known for his contributions for the establishment of the Central Statistics Office and for changing the Indian system of measurement to the metric system. He served as the secretary to Jawaharlal Nehru, the then prime minister of India and headed the Perspective Planning Division of the Planning Commission of India. He was also the author of a number of books on socialist economics. The Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, in 1973.
