Biography
Axel Lapp studied museology and art history in Marburg, Essex and Manchester. [3] He was Henry Moore Research Fellow at the University of Leeds (1998–2000) and Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Sunderland (2009–2010). From 2002 until 2012, he worked as an art critic for Art Review and Art Monthly, and as a freelance curator for contemporary art. [4]
For the art publisher The Green Box, which he directed from 2005 until 2013, [5] he edited numerous books on contemporary art and curating. [6]
Since 2012, Lapp is Director of MEWO Kunsthalle in Memmingen. His first exhibition there, in March 2013, was 'CINEMA and the cinematografic gaze', [7] with works by Omer Fast, Clemens von Wedemeyer, Ming Wong and many others.

Sonia Dawn Boyce, is a British Afro-Caribbean artist and educator, living and working in London. She is a Professor of Black Art and Design at University of the Arts London. Boyce's research interests explore art as a social practice and the critical and contextual debates that arise from this area of study. With an emphasis on collaborative work, Boyce has been working closely with other artists since 1990, often involving improvisation and spontaneous performative actions on the part of her collaborators. Boyce's work involves a variety of media, such as drawing, print, photography, video, and sound. Her art explores "the relationship between sound and memory, the dynamics of space, and incorporating the spectator". To date, Boyce has taught Fine Art studio practice for more than 30 years in several art colleges across the UK.

Sarah Cook is a Scotland-based Canadian scholar. She is well known as a historian and curator in the field of New Media art. Cook was a Research Fellow at the University of Sunderland, where she worked with the research institute CRUMB – Curatorial Resource for Upstart Media Bliss, that she co-founded with Beryl Graham in 2000, and taught on the MA Curating course. In 2013 she was appointed as a Reader and Dundee Research Fellow at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, University of Dundee. As part of her role as Dundee Fellow she founded and curated LifeSpace Science Art Research Gallery in the School of Life Sciences, University of Dundee (2014-2018). She is a trustee of folly in Lancaster.

New media art includes artworks designed and produced by means of electronic media technologies, comprising virtual art, computer graphics, computer animation, digital art, interactive art, sound art, Internet art, video games, robotics, 3D printing, and cyborg art. The term defines itself by the thereby created artwork, which differentiates itself from that deriving from conventional visual arts. New Media art has origins in the worlds of science, art, and performance. Some common themes found in new media art include databases, political and social activism, Afrofuturism, feminism, and identity, a ubiquitous theme found throughout is the incorporation of new technology into the work. The emphasis on medium is a defining feature of much contemporary art and many art schools and major universities now offer majors in "New Genres" or "New Media" and a growing number of graduate programs have emerged internationally. New media art may involve degrees of interaction between artwork and observer or between the artist and the public, as is the case in performance art. Yet, as several theorists and curators have noted, such forms of interaction, social exchange, participation, and transformation do not distinguish new media art but rather serve as a common ground that has parallels in other strands of contemporary art practice. Such insights emphasize the forms of cultural practice that arise concurrently with emerging technological platforms, and question the focus on technological media per se. New Media art involves complex curation and preservation practices that make collecting, installing, and exhibiting the works harder than most other mediums. Many cultural centers and museums have been established to cater to the advanced needs of new media art.

Stephanie Buhmann is a German art critic, art historian, and curator. Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, she lives in New York City and Lübeck, Germany. Her book series "Studio Conversations" focuses on contemporary female artists from different cities. Each book is in a different city. The concept for the "Studio Conversations" project goes back to 2012 when Buhamann became increasingly disenchanted with the media’s fixation the soaring art market. Buhmann states, "I wanted to counterbalance that trend while supporting my community by creating a permanent record of something private and simple: conversations with artists in their studios about the works on their walls."

Kyung-hwa Choi-ahoi is a South Korean graphic artist, author and university teacher living in Germany, with a focus on drawing. From 2015 to 2019 she was a professor for drawing at the University of the Arts Bremen and has been a professor for drawing at the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin since 2019. She lives in Hamburg and Berlin.
