Axel Hermann Peschel (born 2 August 1942) is a German former cyclist. His sporting career began with SC Dynamo Berlin. [1] He competed for East Germany in the team time trial at the 1968 Summer Olympics. [2] Peschel won the Peace Race in 1968. [3] He won the DDR Rundfahrt in 1965 and 1967.

His son, Uwe Peschel, won Olympic gold in cycling at the 1992 Summer Olympics. [4]

He won the DDR Rundfahrt in 1962 and 1963. Ampler died at a nursing home in Leipzig on 6 May 2016 at the age of 75. He was the father of Uwe Ampler, who became a professional cyclist and was coached by his father in the 1980s.

Uwe Grabe is a German athlete. He competed in the men's shot put at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and finished seventh, he then won a bronze medal at the Summer Universiade two years later.

Lutz Benter is a German coxswain who represented West Germany.
