Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. The story begins during the 11th year of the Meiji era in Japan (1878) and follows a former assassin from the Bakumatsu, known as Hitokiri Battosai. After his work against the bakufu, he becomes Himura Kenshin, a wandering swordsman who protects the people of Japan with a vow never to take another life. Watsuki wrote the series upon his desire to make a shōnen manga different from others published at the time, with Kenshin being a former assassin and the story taking a more serious tone as it continued.

Nitta chose to use the pornography industry as a backdrop because she felt it had potential, and she felt there was a parallel between how the pornography industry is marginalised in Japan and how boys love manga is marginalised within the manga industry.

The following is a list of episodes 63–95 of the anime series Rurouni Kenshin, based on the manga series of the same name by Nobuhiro Watsuki. They aired in Japan, with the exception of episode 95, on Fuji TV from October 14, 1997, until the series concluded on October 15, 1998. Directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi and produced by Aniplex and Fuji TV, the anime is set during the early Meiji period in Japan and follows the story of a fictional assassin named Himura Kenshin, who becomes a wanderer to protect the people of Japan. Unlike previous episodes, these were not adapted from the manga. During that period, the Jinchu Arc was still being written and one more final episode was missing by the end of the anime fillers. Studio Deen, who later animated the Trust & Betrayal, Reflections and New Kyoto Arc OVAs would replace Studio Gallop on animation production starting with episode 67.
Love Pistols is a Japanese yaoi manga series written and illustrated by Tarako Kotobuki. The English release was renamed from the original Japanese title "Sex Pistols" to "avoid any legal trouble" with the English punk rock group of the same name. The premise of the story is that 30% of humans are not descended from apes but from other animals and they can interbreed with humans and with other male Zoomans by the use of a symbiote. Norio, an ordinary high school student discovers his Zoomanity and deals with the advances of many male Zoomans who want him to have their babies. The series previously licensed and published in English in North America by Tokyopop's Blu imprint is now published under Viz Media's BL imprint, SuBLime. Geneon released a series of four Drama CDs for Sex Pistols between November 27, 2004, and April 25, 2008. A two-episode original video animation adaptation went on sale in 2010.

Youka Nitta (新田祐克), born March 8, 1971, is a Japanese yaoi manga artist. Although Nitta was already a fan of manga, she was introduced to yaoi manga when she was in grade five, by an older girl who was her neighbour. Her first manga story, "GROUPIE", was published by Biblos in 1997. She believes in characters not always having to be the seme or uke, and her Embracing Love has been called the first title available with a "reversible" couple in English. In 2008 it was reported that Nitta had infringed upon the copyright of advertising photographs by tracing them for illustrations in her manga Embracing Love; she subsequently apologized for the misuse, as did her publisher. Nitta attended the 2002 Yaoi-Con and the 2006 New York Comic Con but cancelled her planned appearance at the 2008 Yaoi-Con in the aftermath of the tracing scandal.
Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth, also titled in French as La Croisée dans un Labyrinthe Étranger, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hinata Takeda about a young Japanese girl named Yune who finds herself in late-19th century Paris.

Rurouni Kenshin, sometimes called Samurai X, is a Japanese anime television series, based on the manga series of the same name by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It was directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, produced by SPE Visual Works and Fuji Television, and animated by Studio Gallop and Studio Deen. It was broadcast on Fuji TV from January 1996 to September 1998. Besides an animated feature film, three series of original video animations (OVAs) were also produced; the first adapts stories from the manga that were not featured in the anime series; the second is both a retelling and a sequel to the anime series; and the third was a reimagining of the second arc of the series.
