Aparan (transl. Imposter) is a 1988 Indian Malayalam-language mystery psychological thriller film written and directed by P. Padmarajan, based on his short story of the same name. It stars Jayaram, Mukesh, Shobana, Parvathy Jayaram and Madhu. The film is about mistaken identity and the problems that a young, innocent man has to undergo in his life. The film was the debut of Jayaram and it was a critical as well as commercial success. The film was remade in Tamil as Manidhan Marivittan (1989). The film is considered as a cult classic in Malayalam cinema.
Thoovalsparsham is a 1990 Indian Malayalam-language comedy film directed by Kamal and written by Kaloor Dennis. The film stars Jayaram, Mukesh, Sai Kumar and Suresh Gopi. It was inspired by the 1987 American film Three Men and a Baby, which itself was based on the 1985 French film Three Men and a Cradle. Thoovalsparsham was remade in Telugu in 1990 as Chinnari Muddula Papa and twice in Tamil - in 1991 as Thayamma, in 2001 as Asathal and lastly a Hindi remake Heyy Babyy in 2007.

This film was written by Sasidharan Arattuvazhi and directed by Rajasenan. It was made as an homage to CID Nazir (1971). The film was also a breakthrough in the career of Indrans. In the film, Unnikrishnan, a young man gets hired in a private detective company; soon, he is given the task of investigating a businessman's daughter's record. But during the course of his investigation, he faces opposition from two detectives who work with the same company.
