The 12129/12130 Azad Hind Express is a daily Superfast Express train operated by the Central Railway zone of Indian Railways connecting Pune with Howrah. [1] Introduced in 1996, this train service is a tribute to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, being named after the Azad Hind Fauj which was led by him. [2]
As per official time table, this train covers 2,014 km (1,251 mi) in 33 hours 25 minutes averaging at 60 km/h (37 mph).
However the actual arrival and departure times may be different as it regularly gets delayed between 4 hours to 7 hours or more. Also, it often gets rescheduled. [5] So passengers are advised to check arrival and departure times before boarding.
The train has 24 Utkrisht ICF coaches. However the train is supposed to run with LHB coaches from February 15, 2025. [6]

Azad Hind Radio was a radio service that was started under the leadership of Subhas Chandra Bose in 1942 to encourage Indians to fight against the British. Though initially based in Nazi Germany, its headquarters were shifted to Japanese occupied Singapore following the course of the war in Southeast Asia. After Netaji's departure to Southeast Asia, the German operations were continued by A. C. N. Nambiar, the head of the Indian Legion in Nazi Germany and later ambassador of the Arzi Hukumate Azad Hind in Germany.
Duronto Express, translating to "restless" in Bengali, is a class of long-distance rapid trains operated by Indian Railways. Initially conceived to operate non-stop between origin and destination stations, since January 2016, these trains have been permitted to make additional commercial stops and accept ticket bookings from technical halts. Before the introduction of trains like the Gatimaan Express and Vande Bharat Express, Duronto trains held the distinction of being the fastest trains in India. Unlike its counterpart, the Rajdhani Express, which links India's capital, Delhi, to state capitals, the Duronto Express connects major metropolitan areas, state capitals, and the national capital.
THE 12311 / 12312 NETAJI SUPERFAST EXPRESS is one of the oldest running daily Superfast Express train in India.
