Bilateral relations exist between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Fiji in political, socio-economic, cultural and other spheres. Neither country has a resident ambassador.

Diplomatic relations

On March 18, 2010, the government of Azerbaijan and the government of Fiji signed a joint communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.[ citation needed ]

The diplomatic representation of Azerbaijan in Fiji is located in Canberra. [1]

High-level visits

On September 22, 2011, within the framework of the 66th session of The United Nations General Assembly, Azerbaijani foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Fijian foreign Minister Inoke Kubuabola. [2]

On February 21–23, 2018, Anar Alekperov, assistant to the first Vice President of Azerbaijan, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, paid a working visit to Fiji. [2]

In October 2018, Prime Minister of Fiji Hosaya Vorek Bainimarama met with the chargé d'affaires of Azerbaijan in Australia Elyan Habibzadeh at a charity dinner organized on the occasion of his country's National day in Sydney. The main goal of the event was to donate money to help children suffering from cancer in Fiji. According to the Fiji Consulate General in Sydney, more than 30,000 Australian dollars were raised during the event. The funds were transferred to the charity "Walk On Walk Strong Kids Fiji", which supports children suffering from cancer. [1]

According to statistics from the UN trade office (COMTRADE), Azerbaijan's exports to Fiji in 2015 amounted to 305 US dollars.

According to statistics from the UN trade office (COMTRADE), in 2018, the volume of Azerbaijan's exports to Fiji amounted to 7.54 US dollars.

Humanitarian assistance

In May 2011, the government of Azerbaijan donated 25,000 US dollars to the government of Fiji to cover expenses for the staff of the Fijian UN office. [3]
