BIONIC University (IT University of Vasyl Khmelnytsky) is an IT university located in Kyiv, Ukraine. Founded in 2012, it is considered the first Ukrainian inter-corporate IT university, designed to expose Ukrainian IT students to the corporate world.
BIONIC University was founded in 2012 as an educational initiative of BIONIC Hill Innovation Park. It is located in the Brothers’ cell building on the premises of National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The building was built in 1823, and is an architectural monument representing the late classicism style.
The building had fallen into disrepair, and was repaired in 2012 with support from Vasyl Khmelnytsky. [1] The official opening of BIONIC University took place on September 27, 2013, after a year of operating in test mode. A delegation of representatives of famous educational establishments, hi-tech and consulting companies, including Intuit Labs, Singularity University Labs, Cisco, Hewlett Packard, Bingham Consulting, attended the ceremony, along with both the first and the incumbent U.S. Ambassadors to Ukraine. In April 2014 BIONIC University opened a Coursera Learning Hub in Kyiv. In March 2015 BIONIC University issued its own certificates to the students of Coursera's course “Programming for Everybody (Python)” from the University of Michigan. [4]
In October 2014 BIONIC University, together with Ukrainian software development company MacPaw, started a specialized lab on creating applications for Apple's iOS operating system – iOS Dev Lab. Professional trainers teach Objective-C developers using the most recent teaching materials of leading U.S. universities. The opening of iOS Dev Lab was attended by Serhiy Kvit, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. [5]
In March 2015 BIONIC University obtained the IT Education Award from the expert community of IT Jam Meet&Mix 2015, an industry event dedicated to education and innovations, as the most socially responsible initiative among educational IT projects in the country. [6]
In April 2015 a pilot project of UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education and BIONIC University “Entrepreneurship and innovations management” started. The program was developed for Ukrainian managers and entrepreneurs and consists of two educational modules: the first one takes place in Ukraine, and the second one in the U.S. The curriculum includes lectures and workshops from the leading world professionals in the field of innovation, as well as exposure to the innovation ecosystem of Silicon Valley by visiting the largest companies of the San Francisco Bay Area. The development of the program and participation of the first group of students was organized by Vasyl Khmelnytsky.
"Our task is to help our country to be successful. It is necessary to adopt best world practices and implement them in Ukraine. I have no doubts that this educational program will find its use in real work and business projects," – Vasyl Khmelnytsky. [7]
The main objective of BIONIC University is to prepare local Ukrainian IT specialists to be globally competitive but also professionally fulfilled in Ukraine. [8]
The institution is located on the premises of National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and is funded by Ukrainian entrepreneur Vasyl Khmelnytsky. As of October 2013, more than $1 million was invested in BIONIC University development. [9] Education at the institution is free of charge.
BIONIC University provides integrated training in three programs: Tech Skills (programming skills), Soft Skills (social interaction skills), and Entrepreneurship (entrepreneurial skills).
Enrollment at the university is based on a multi-level selection process. Candidates have to undergo a technical testing in their chosen program, English language proficiency, and a personal interview. Upon successful completion of the course, the trainees obtain certificates.
A number of international and Ukrainian companies and institutions are partners of BIONIC University: Infopulse Ukraine, Cisco, Hewlett Packard, BMS Consulting, Paymentwall, Ciklum, MacPaw, UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education, and Wikimedia Ukraine. BIONIC University is a Ukrainian partner of Coursera, the leading online educational platform which counts more than 6 million students all over the world.

National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy is a highly ranked national research university located in a historic section of Kyiv, Ukraine. The university is bilingual in Ukrainian and English and is one of Ukraine's few universities with internationally recognized diplomas. NaUKMA takes part in numerous international university collaborations, such as the European University Association. With around 4000 students, NaUKMA is one of the smallest universities in Ukraine.
Artemy Lukyanovich Vedel, born Artemy Lukyanovich Vedelsky, was a Ukrainian-born Russian composer of military and liturgical music. He produced works based on Ukrainian folk melodies, and made an important contribution in the music history of Ukraine. Together with Maxim Berezovsky and Dmitry Bortniansky, Vedel is recognised by musicologists as one of the "Golden Three" composers of 18th century Ukrainian classical music, and one of Russia's greatest choral composers.
Sylvester Kossów, Kosiv or Kosov was the Metropolitan of Kiev, Galicia and all Rus' in the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in the Eastern Orthodox Church from 1647 to 1657. He reigned during the Khmelnytsky uprising.
Higher education in Ukraine operates several levels, all of which are regulated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. In early 2016, Ukraine had 802 universities, but the Ministry intends to lower that number to 317. Ukraine had 1,586,700 higher education students in 2016-17.
Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University is a self-governing state higher law educational establishment of the IV level of accreditation, a national university, located in Kharkiv, Ukraine, named after Yaroslav the Wise. National Law University is the largest law school in Ukraine, which includes 10 faculties, institutes and colleges located in Kharkiv and Poltava.
The Ukrainian journal Osnova was published between 1861 and 1862 in Saint Petersburg. It contained articles devoted to life and customs of the Ukrainian people, including regular features about their wedding customs and traditions. Prominent figures were associated with the journal Osnova included Ukrainian intellectuals such as Volodymyr Antonovych and Tadei Rylsky, as well as poet Pavlo Chubynsky.
Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University is a higher education institution. The university was established by Kyiv municipal council through reorganization of Kyiv regional Teachers Training Institute named after Borys Hrinchenko. The university is communal property.

The National University of Ostroh Academy is a Ukrainian self-governed (autonomous) research university that was established in 1994 by the Presidential Decree of April 12, 1994. The university considers itself a continuation of the historic Ostroh Academy which was the first East-European higher school.
The Dragomanov Ukrainian State University is a Ukrainian higher education institution in Kyiv, which has III-IV accreditation level. It is named after Mykhailo Drahomanov.
The Precarpathian National University is a public research university in Ivano-Frankivsk. It is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Western Ukraine.
BIONIC Hill is the first Ukrainian innovation park being constructed similarly to the Silicon Valley. Estimated project investment is to reach 1 billion US dollars.
Vasyl Ivanovych Khmelnytsky is a Ukrainian politician and entrepreneur who served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine on two occasions, first from 1998 to 2002 and then from 2006 to 2014. He is also the founder of holding company UFuture.
DTEK Academy is a corporate university of DTEK energy company. DTEK strategic holding company manages three operational sub-holding companies with the assets in the sectors of conventional energy, alternative energy and hydrocarbons production. DTEK is part of the financial and industrial group System Capital Management (SCM). The shareholder of the group is a Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov. DTEK Chief Executive Officer is Maksym Tymchenko. It is a tool for shaping the company's ideology and developing methods of fostering talents.

Bohdan Khmelnytsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University is a Ukrainian university in Melitopol. It is one of the most developed universities in Zaporizhia, Ukraine. It was established in 1923, and is also one of the leading state universities in the education of teachers.
The Visual Culture Research Center (VCRC) is an independent cultural institution in Kyiv, founded in 2008 as a platform for interaction between academic, artistic, and activist communities. The VCRC is an independent public organization engaged in publishing and exhibition activities, scientific research, conducting public lectures, discussions, and conferences. From 2008 to 2012, it operated at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Inna Romanivna Sovsun is a Ukrainian professor and politician. She served as Ukraine's deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine from 2014 to 2016. On August 23, 2016, Sovsun resigned from her post following a controversy involving an order that would have reduced staffing levels of the Ministry of Education and Science by up to 10%. She served as vice-president of the Kyiv School of Economics from 2016 to 2018. She has also been a full professor of the department of political science National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy", as well as co-founder and former director of the think tank CEDOS.
Vakhtang Kipiani is a Ukrainian journalist, historian, and opinion journalist the most famous for his book "The Case of Vasyl Stus" that won the first place in the "List of 30 iconic books of Ukrainian Independence" compiled by Ukrainian Book Institute and Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine with help of voting of qualified voters in 2021. He is the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Istorychna Pravda, the head of the Museum-Archive of the Press and lecturer in Ukrainian Catholic University and in National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He is a recipient of Shevchenko National Prize in journalism and a Honored Journalist of Ukraine.
The Kharkov Collegium also known as Kharkiv Collegium or Kharkiv College was an educational institution in the Kharkov Governorate in the Russian Empire, which was founded in 1721, due to collaboration of Bishop Epiphanius of Belgorod and Prince Mikhail Golitsyn. As a great supporter of the Collegium was also known Prince Dmitry Golitsyn, whose monument stood in the central hall of the Collegium. The Kharkіv Collegium was closed in 1817 and was re-organised as the Kharkov Theological Seminary, a higher educational institution of the Russian Orthodox Church, training clergy, teachers, scholars, and officials.
