Bablu Mahato, also known as Chandradeo Mahato, is an Indian politician from Sindri Assembly constituency Jharkhand. He is the son of Anand Mahato, a well-known political figure in Jharkhand. Anand Mahato served as a four-time MLA from Sindri and was actively associated with the Marxist Coordination Committee (MCC) until its merger with CPI(ML) Liberation in 2024. Chandradeo Mahato carries forward his father's legacy and has emerged as a key candidate for the Sindri constituency.
Bablu Mahato began his career as a dedicated government school teacher, where he contributed to the community by educating young minds and fostering local development. Inspired by the legacy and ideals of his father, Anand Mahato, he imbibed his father’s principles of social justice and grassroots activism into his own life. Driven by a commitment to address the broader challenges facing his community, Bablu eventually resigned from his teaching role to step into the political arena. His early experiences in education equipped him with a deep understanding of grassroots issues, which he now brings to his work as a public servant. Bablu Mahato is contesting the 38-Sindri constituency seat in the 2024 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly elections as a candidate of CPI(ML) Liberation. [1] [2] His campaign is supported by an alliance comprising Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Indian National Congress, and CPI(ML) Liberation. [3]
The 2024 elections mark his formal entry into electoral politics, with a focus on addressing workers' rights, industrial development, and improving public infrastructure in the region.
Bablu Mahato has promised to continue the pro-worker and grassroots-oriented policies championed by his father. His campaign emphasizes strengthening public sector enterprises, ensuring labor rights, and advocating for the sustainable development of the Sindri region. [4] [5] [6]
The Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation is a communist political party in India. The party is represented in Bihar and Jharkhand Legislative Assemblies. Since 2023, the party is also a member of the INDIA electoral alliance. In Bihar, the party has significant base amongst the Extremely Backward Castes and the Schedule Castes. It was successful in mobilising Upper Backward Caste groups such as Koeris in some districts of central Bihar, prior to the rise of Lalu Prasad Yadav. The party faced existential crisis when a large section of its Koeri and Yadav support base defected to Rashtriya Janata Dal in 1990s. However, the ideological commitment of its cadre protected it from disintegration. It staged a comeback in politics after winning twelve seats in Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2020 and by sending two of its members to Lok Sabha in 2024 Indian general elections.
The Marxist Co-ordination Committee is a political party in Jharkhand, India, based around the coal mining region of Dhanbad. Marxist Co-ordination Committee since its inception was closely associated with the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation and merged with the party in September 2024. CPI(ML)L held its first meeting after the merger on 10–11 September where five MCC leaders were inducted into its central committee.
R.L.P. Verma was a former member of Lok Sabha and a leader of Bhartiya Janata Party. He was elected to Lok Sabha from Kodarma in Jharkhand state in India for six terms. Verma represented Jamua Assembly constituency once, from where he was elected in legislative assembly elections in 1972, on the ticket of Bhartiya Jana Sangh. However, on the call of Jai Prakash Narayan for Total Revolution, he resigned from his legislative assembly membership and became a part of the "Sampurna Kranti movement". Verma has represented Kodarma Lok Sabha constituency for five terms, making him the longest serving Member of Parliament (MP) from this constituency. He was one of the two Member of Parliament of BJP during transformation of Jana Sangh into Bhartiya Janata Party. Verma played instrumental role in strengthening Bhartiya Jana Sangh and later Bhartiya Janata Party in Bihar-Jharkhand region.

He was also elected for his second term in Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1977 Bihar Assembly elections, this time, as a candidate of Janata Party. Mahto was considered one of the pillars of Bhartiya Jana Sangh in 1960s and he went on to become a minister from Jana Sangh quota in Mahamaya Prasad Sinha's government in 1967.
Ramdev Mahato is an Indian politician and a former member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Madhubani Assembly constituency. He had been elected from the Madhubani constituency to the Bihar Legislative Assembly four times between 2000 and 2010. Mahato was associated with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and recognised as an influential leader of the Mithilanchal region of Bihar. Raja Ram Singh or Raja Ram Singh Kushwaha, is an Indian politician based in Bihar, who was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly twice, from Obra Assembly constituency in Aurangabad district. He is a member of Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation. He was first elected in 1995 and retained this constituency in 2000 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. He is also a politburo member of CPI(ML)L. In 2024 Indian general election, he defeated Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh with a margin of over one lakh votes to win Karakat Lok Sabha constituency. He stood first in the triangular electoral contest involving National Democratic Alliance candidate and Rashtriya Lok Morcha president, Upendra Kushwaha and Pawan Singh.
Vijaylakshmi Devi also known as Vijay Lakshmi Kushwaha is an Indian politician and a member of Indian Parliament, Lok Sabha from Siwan Lok Sabha constituency. She was elected to the Lok Sabha on the symbol of Janata Dal (United) in 2024 Indian general election. She is the wife of former JDU legislator, Ramesh Singh Kushwaha, who represented Ziradei Assembly constituency falling within Siwan Lok Sabha constituency.
