Bader Al-Shaikh also spelt Badr Al-Shaikh, is a Saudi bowler. [1] He is known for his performance at the 2006 Asian Games, where he won two gold and two bronze medals. In 2017, he became president of the Saudi Bowling Federation.
His father is Abdullah Al-Shaikh. His brother is fellow bowler and Asian games gold medalist Hassan. [2] He studied petroleum engineering at the King Saud University. [3]
He won gold at the 2006 Asian Games in doubles, partnered with Hassan. [4] He also won gold at the all events category, with a combined score of 5482. He was part of the Saudi team which won bronze at the team competition, [5] and the trio which won bronze at the trios competition.
At the 2007 Asian Indoor Games, he stood 37th in the singles category. Partnered with Hassan, he stood 7th in doubles.
He participated at the 2014 Asian Games, ranking 28th in the men's singles category. Partnered with Abdullah Al-Dolijan, he placed 30th in doubles.
In 2017, he became president of the Saudi Bowling Federation. [6] [7] During his presidency, the first national women's team was formed in 2018.
The 1996 AFC Asian Cup was the 11th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were held in the United Arab Emirates between 4 and 21 December 1996. Saudi Arabia defeated hosts United Arab Emirates in the final match in Abu Dhabi. As the runners-up, the United Arab Emirates represented the AFC in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup as the winners Saudi Arabia had qualified automatically as host.

On January 2, 2016, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia carried out a mass execution of 47 imprisoned civilians convicted of terrorism in 12 provinces in the country. Forty-three were beheaded and four were executed by firing squads. Among the 47 people killed was Shia Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr. The execution was the largest carried out in the kingdom since 1980. Nimr al-Nimr was sentenced to death by the Specialized Criminal Court on 15 October 2014 for "seeking 'foreign meddling' in Saudi Arabia, 'disobeying' its rulers and taking up arms against the security forces". His execution was condemned by religious and political figures and human rights groups. The Saudi government said the body would not be handed over to the family. Al-Nimr was very critical of the Saudi Arabian government, and called for free elections in Saudi Arabia.
