The Filmfare Best Comedian Award was given by Filmfare as part of its annual Filmfare Awards for Hindi films, to recognise an actor who had delivered an outstanding performance in a comic role.
Rakesh Roshan is an Indian film producer, director, screenwriter and actor who works in Hindi films. He had appeared in 84 films throughout the 1970s and 1980s until 1989. As an actor, he was mostly known for his supporting roles in big-budget films. Later, his prominence increased, and he achieved fame for directing films with titles beginning with the letter "K" since 1987.

Julie is a 1975 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by K. S. Sethumadhavan and written by Chakrapani. The film stars Lakshmi in the title role. It also stars Vikram Makandar, Nadira, Rita Bhaduri, Om Prakash, Utpal Dutt and Sridevi, in her first significant Hindi role. The film was a critical and commercial success. It is a remake of a Malayalam film Chattakari (1974), which also starred Lakshmi as the lead making her Malayalam and Hindi film debuts in both versions respectively. She would star in yet another remake, the Telugu film Miss Julie Prema Katha (1975). She did not act in the Kannada remake, Julie, released in 2006, which had Ramya in the title role as Julie and Dino Morea as the leading man. She also declined the role of Julie's mother in the Malayalam remake titled Chattakari (2012), stating that she wanted the audiences to remember her as the young and beautiful Julie; the title role went to Shamna Kasim. Actress Urvashi portrayed the role of Julie in its Tamil remake Oh Maane Maane (1984).
Do Anjaane is a 1976 Hindi-language drama film, produced by Tito, it is directed by Dulal Guha and based on the story Rater gari of Nihar Ranjan Gupta. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Prem Chopra, Pradeep Kumar, Utpal Dutt, Lalita Pawar and a young pre-stardom Mithun Chakraborty. The music is by Kalyanji Anandji. It was remade in Telugu as Maavari Manchitanam (1979). The Kannada version Aaseya Bale was released in 1987.

This was also the debut film of actor Ranjit Chowdhry, who later appeared in films like Basu Chatterjee's Baton Baton Mein (1979) and Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Khubsoorat (1980).
Zindagi (transl. Life) is a 1976 Hindi movie produced by Romu Sippy and directed by Ravi Tandon. The film stars Mala Sinha, Sanjeev Kumar, Vinod Mehra, Moushumi Chatterjee, Aruna Irani, Deven Verma, A. K. Hangal, Padmini Kolhapure, Keshto Mukherjee and Iftekhar. Based on a story by film director and novelist, Sailajananda Mukhopadhyay, it stars Ashok Kumar, Uttam Kumar, Sharmila Tagore, Moushumi Chatterjee and Rakesh Roshan in lead roles. The same story was earlier filmed as 'Doctor' in 1940 starred by Pankaj Mullick, Ahindra Choudhury and Bharati Devi.

Jaag Utha Insan is a 1984 Indian Hindi-language film directed by K. It is the Hindi version of Viswanath's 1981 Telugu film Saptapadi. The cinematographer P.L. Raj won the Filmfare Award for best cinematography. Film expert Rajesh Subramanian reveals that Jaya Prada was the first choice but since her dates were committed and clashed with Prakash Mehra's Sharaabi, Sridevi was signed to play the female lead.
Aasoo Bane Angaarey is a 1993 Hindi-language drama film, produced by Jatti K. Varma under the Paramount Pictures banner and directed by Mehul Kumar. It stars Jeetendra, Madhuri Dixit, Deepak Tijori and music composed by Rajesh Roshan. Madhuri Dixit played a double role as both mother and daughter and her performance was appreciated; despite the film not being a commercial success. Dixit played a similar mother and daughter double role a year earlier in Sangeet; her performance in that film was also acclaimed.
Mera Damad is a 1995 family-drama Indian Hindi film directed by Partho Ghosh and produced by Shipra Biswas and Tushar Mazumdar. It stars Utpal Dutt, Ashok Kumar, Farooq Sheikh, Zarina Wahab, Rakesh Bedi, Prema Narayan, Tariq Khan and Jankidas in lead roles. Dialogue writer was Sharad Joshi and Play back singing was done by Amit Kumar, Anuradha Paudwal, Shailendra Singh, Kavita Krishnamurty and Sabita Chowdhury whereas Music for the film was scored by Salil Choudhury and background music by Babul Bose.
