The Bakersfield Roughnecks were a junior Junior A Tier III ice hockey team based out of Bakersfield, California. [1]

History

On October 13, 2021, the USPHL accepted the Bakersfield Roughnecks as an expansion team for the Premier Division for the 2021–22 season. [2] While the ownership group and initially wanted to begin a year earlier, their plans were delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the area's first junior team since the Bakersfield Jr. Condors relocated 11 years earlier. [3] After a solid sophomore season, the club declined in its third year and missed the postseason. That offseason, the team relocated to McCall, Idaho and became the smokejumpers. [4]
